"pennants" on trees

Anyone else have, for lack of a better term, ‘‘pennants’’ on the tree tops? I fly helo’s exclusively and I notice that the tips of the trees have these little streamers as I zip by. They seem to be 5-8 feet long, in scale to the tree. Not the worst thing to happen, but it kinda kills the immersion a little.

Personal Comments and Observations

If you’re on DX12, you’ll get all sorts of artifacting on scenery.

Nope… DX11. My FPS is fine, I always use VR, (I can’t go back to a monitor). Everything else is fine except for these streamers…

Can you share a screenshot?

I’ll try to get one, but I also notice it on most vertical edges on trees, buildings, towers, etc… I see some ghostly faint lines on the “trailing edge” of the object as I move past it. Like the shadow of your mouse moving across your screen.

Not showing up on a screen shot… I’ll live with it.

Do you run TAA? It can cause ghosting.

Exactly what I was thinking!

My AA is set to Nvidia DLSS Balanced.

You must eat lot of carrots! :joy:

Is the OP seeing TAA artifacts?

Not exactly… they are dark and it looks as if a strong wind is blowing the leaves off the tops of the trees. But not JUST trees… building corners and vertical edges too.

Can you post an image? I’m not sure I’ve seen that before.

Its an AA artifact, I played with the settings a little and it went away when I switched the AA off, but the visuals were so grainy and harsh to look at, I switched back… I’ll just live with it.

How did you switch off AA to test, and what did you turn back on again?

In the options menu. I just switched it off, had a look, hated it and turned it back on (DLSS/balanced).

Interesting. DLSS, and TAA are mutually exclusive if memory serves. You can have one or the other, but both DLSS, and TAA can cause those ghosting artifacts, as I showed in my video.

I have a 3090 so I don’t bother with DLSS. The last time I tried it I didn’t get any performance boost over TAA, so I stuck with that.

I just did a quick test at EGLC. 200/200 on the ramp, getting around 43fps with TAA. Switch to DLSS/Balanced, and I get up to 44fps, but worse lows, and blurry instrumentation.
