People said the same things when FSX launched as they're saying now

“It’s not installing…”

“I’ve had this issue and that issue…”

“It should not have been released…”

“My performance is bad…”

All legitimate concerns but please be patient, I think we will get our moneys worth but it will take time. The same issues many of us had 13+ years ago is apparent but they were resolved and we got so much out of it.

Agreed.

But they did set themselves up a bit for criticism. With FSX no youtube influencers, a huge base of beta testers, and all these flashy movies with developers talking about the most amazing features.

A 1000 surfaces for wind! With arrows and pointers and windlayers and real time weather and I was like ‘wow, nice turbulence’… then in the end flying through a storm like it’s a clear day?

I don’t mind waiting for them to fix the bugs, really, and I’m enjoying the show, but I do feel something wasn’t completely honest…

I’d advise a little less hyping with FS2040.

Yup… FSX was a hot mess when it was released and didn’t run anywhere close to smooth on the beefiest of systems.

That didn’t stop anyone from having a ton of fun over the past decade+ and it got better and better with time.

When FSX launched, I was getting 7 fps using the Captain sim 727 over generic airport… with a Core2duo E6700 and a GTX 7800 GTX graphic card, both of them being rather high-end at that time… Conclusion, we’ll be happy in a year or two.

“Round and round we go, where we stop we do not know”

Hopefully the comparison stops there. It took several years to solve some the issues with Fsx, mainly to get reasonable performance, thanks to thousands of hours of investigation by the community, and new hardware

I didn’t maybe, I was just lucky.
