Performance Decrease when Using Pop-Out Panels

This is the solution

can confirm removing MSI Afterburner and RivaTuner Statistic Server and my FPS is rock sollid when using popout panels, thanks for the information

Interesting! Iā€™ve never used MSI Afterburner nor RivaTuner, but Iā€™m having this bug now (after about a year away from MSFS). In the past, a combination of minimizing and closing the pop out panel (ATC) and then opening it back up on the second screen did the trick. Doesnt seem to work anymore. I lose about 5-8 FPS when I pop it out on the second screen.

I do use NZXT Cam for monitoring GPU/CPU, but even with that close and the process closed, it doesnā€™t improve the situation. Iā€™ve also made sure my system is up to date, except the GPU - a RTX2060 - which was recent updated to 556.12.

Iā€™m not sure if the old 528.49 was the ticket (I dont really want to DDU and regress to that), or, perhaps MSFS2020 just doesnt play as nice with my system anymore after updates. It is getting kinda old at this pointā€¦

And Iā€™m back. I had posted in this topic a few times because I was having this problem with my frame rates dropping to unusable single digits when using my pop out monitors. This hadnā€™t always been the case, but it did become an issue at some point and my workaround was to change my main monitor (which is three 27ā€ monitors) resolution to 4080 X 768 where normally I would have it at 7680 X 1440.

I might be forgetting some things that I did or happened but eventually, I upgraded my GPU from an RTX 2080S to an RTX 4070.

Iā€™ve been flying for many months now without any issues and then in the past week or so Iā€™ve suddenly run into some major stuttering issues, particularly when on approach and taxing after a flight. That progressed into taxing before a flight and then I feel like Iā€™m right back to the problem with having good frame rates right up to the point of takeoff and then they slowly fall to single digits.

Yesterday I set up a flight but didnā€™t use any pop out monitors and I was able to take off and fly for about 10 minutes with my FPS stable at 59.

And this morning before coming to work, I tried setting my main screen resolution to 4080 X768 and once again that seems to have fixed the problem.

No idea why this problem came back and frustrated that itā€™s back with my new GPU. I can use the SIM like this, but that resolution really sucks.

Weā€™re so close to the 2024 release now that I might just deal with this and see what happens with that.
Also, considering buying a whole new system.

My system is a Dell Alienware Aurora R11.

Intel core I9-10900KF 3.70Ghz
32GB RAM
GeForce RTX 4070 12GB

I have found after the last update ā€œAvionics Update 3ā€ my frame rate hit is awful with pop out panels. It was not great before but it was at least playable with 25 to 30 fps going into Gatwick, now with the latest avionics update my FPS hit is awful when I try to load even 1 panel out, down to 16-18.

Was odd to have no real issue prior to the update and now have a lag fest after the update - it suggests to me the update was the problem

I find it telling that the question of this issue was brought up in the Q&A last week. Despite it having been asked many times, and having Martial say he would ā€œget back to usā€ on it, this time his answer was like this was something completely new that theyā€™d never heard of before.

I have low expectations that this will be resolved in 2024. Iā€™m not a betting man, but if I were, Iā€™d bet weā€™ll still be having this discussion another year from now and beyond.
