Performance Degradation on Data

I haven’t seen any other threads on this but as of this week i’ve noticed that the sim will stall at points while it appears to load in scenery. Turning off data cures the problem.

I’ve never experienced this before as the internet connection is usually good.

So that I can rule out something wrong with the hard drive, is anyone experiencing this?

I agree. You can see the Scenery load and the chuging begains. Smooth for a little bit then chuging begins again.

By the way are you on DX11 or DX12? It looks like they chanded something in the CPU usage which for me makes DX11 useless. Unless you like a slideshow every 5 seconds. DX12 fixes about 80 percent of it for me.

I have a $5k rig. 4090, 13900k, 128 gb ram, part of that is a RAM drive for the Rolling Cache, which I would recommend. Before the update it was butter smooth at 300 LOD Terrain. Everything else on Ultra, DLSS on quality. I was getting over 60fps IN VR!

Using DX12 now and my FPS is 45. It still chugs once in awile. This is on a gigabit connection. Did they change something in the sim to make XBOX run better? Who knows, but i see way more pop up loading scenery, and the processor use is up overall. I changed no settings on my end.

The pop up destroys Immersion, and slows down the the scenery loading. If i fly in an area with no photo geometry its smooth again, and FPS go back up. Whatever they did, it ruined DLSS performance for me and created this pop up! At 300 LOD there shouldnt be pop up right off the nose of the aircraft. Although i have seen similar pop up on the Xbox. Hmmmm.

The pop up makes it feel like a video game from the 90’s. How they didnt see this happening in the PC Beta is beyond me. It happend to me in the beta, and I reverted Immediately. Thought they would fix that before they released the update. Guess not.

Yeah getting this pretty heavy now. I don’t run rollingcache but do run DX12 and 200 on the LOD. Didn’t have this issues until after the AAU update - not sure if the servers are over loaded or what’s going on. If I re-enable all the data it will stay on for about 10 minutes then give me the error again and disables data all together.

Tried swapping servers - nothing seems to help. I’m on a 13900K w/3090 Ultra 64GB of DDr5 6400. Everything is loaded on SSD drives.

Server overload could be it. But seriously, the amout of data that i see being used is pretty low. I wish they would just let us download say, all of sothern california. Not just the rolling cache but the entire thing.

Yeah its a lot of data, but i would buy Terabytes of storage to be able to do it. It should be an option at least.

I have over 50TB of ortho for XP stored locally. I do not wish to build that library for MS hah. I would prefer if they would just roll out enough servers to handle the burst in capacity. Maybe time to invest in some non-microsoft backends like AWS or Google Cloud to give users the burst capacity if that’s the issue. Never have issues like this because of something on my end - it’s always their servers it seems like…

Second this… Some 30 min ago i flied in to Vancouver wich looked totaly nuked. So tired of this. And bug reports. Yes i have only 3 part payed addon from venders. Use a new high pc with one 4k monitor, and one smaller and run stable about 40 fps.

Tired of beeing a paying beta tester.

Please Msfs fix the underlying problems before you do any more live stream about new things. Lol ESSA finaly got adressed, after How long?

You used to be able to go into the manual cache and select areas to download, rather than depending on just a rolling cache. I was amazed when I first tried it (almost 2 years ago now) at how much data it truly takes to download even relatively small areas even at medium resolution. I think they may have finally disabled the manual cache because it just wasn’t really practical for all but very limited areas. Who knows, they may have opened it back up for use. Basically located down below the rolling cache setup area. Not sure why it’s even still there.

The manual cache has been greyed out for some time. I did it back in the day but it would only let you do small areas when you were zoomed way in. I still dont know why its disabled. I dont belive they ever said why.
