Anyone else with performance drop after the last update?
After the last update I had around 35/38 FPS on the ground… now is around 15/20… what’s going on?
Windows 10
RTX 3070
32 RAM
Rayzen 7 5800x

I had to recalibrate but my performance is about the same maybe even better, it’s certainly easier to keep stuttering at bay. I suggest you dont compare with live weather turned on as due to popular demand clouds have been thickened up again.
Thanks man… i dont know what i can do… but anyway thanks

Are they going to make us spend a lot of money to get a 4090 and an I 9 13000k?
Microsoft/Asobo don’t feel embarrassed to see a streamer and developers sharing videos on YT with stutters and low FPS?
They are completely focused on the quantity and not on the quality of products sold… They do not focus on optimization, fluidity and improvement of the SIM…
Stuttering when landing, taking off, cruising, lost data connection
I use an RTX 3090ti SUPRIM at 1920x1080 32GB RAM Rayzen 7 5800x isn’t supposed to be enough?
If I reduce the terrain quality level, it’s the same as Xplane.
Dirext x 12 is a real joke, it doesn’t work and it’s completely blurry… almost 3 years of SIM and not even a functional replay has been developed
Is it time for the community to come together to talk about it?
What do you think ? share your thoughts…
No problems here on a much lower spec rig than that.
Sounds like you might not be clearing your shader cache or rolling cache etc
This is anecdotal, and I am on Xbox, not PC, but I just had a lovely flight between two handcrafted airports in the A310. Unheard of on Xbox before this latest build of beta.
I think that you are projecting your problems on the whole community.
So many here just dont have these problems.
Well I am happy to share my thoughts. I just installed a RTX 3070 OC that came my way. Driving a curved 4K screen . using DX12 . Smooth as silk. Set the FPS to 50% of the screen refresh rate which gives me a very steady 72FPS. Ryzen 7 3700x8 AMD . dlss Balanced
So all fine here. As far as dx12 is concerned, the improvement is amazing and the spread of the load on my machine works great. Pin sharp and smooth. I am sorry you have these issues.
My thoughts.
Microsoft recommendations for MSFS:-
Low End 1080p
Mid Range 1440p
High End 4k
I think I see your problem.
I also noticed a performance drop with latest update. Especially with clouds/overcast.
I disabled the entire community folder. That really helped.
3090ti in 1080p. See if you can spot how those two things might be causing you a problem….
Your resolution is too low for that GPU. That puts literally ALL the load on your CPU which, I’m afraid, is very much the weak link in your system. If you can afford it and don’t wish to move to the new architecture then I would highly recommend you sell your 5800x and replace it with a 5800x3D.
Either way you need to be playing the game in 4K with Ultra settings to put more load on your 3090ti. If you still find the game stuttering (which is entirely down to your weak CPU) then reduce your TerrainLOD, and set your ‘added on drivel’ traffic settings way down. All your airport traffic should be 0 except for the service vehicles which need to be set to 1 to allow aircraft to push pack. Road traffic, boats etc should be set to about 20 or so.
Those settings and only those settings will take the load off your CPU. If you follow the above guidance you will find the game runs much better, but nothing will really make up for your CPU being below par.
Where do people get the idea the 5800X is a weak gpu? … it’s actually a very good one and if LeMauro was to get a 4k monitor (or use a 4k desktop) he probably will not see much difference in performance to a 5800X3D. An undervolted 5800X can boost to 5.1GHz and will have it’s own strengths. e.g Cinebench R23 multicore up to 16000, single 1600 plus which the X3D doesn’t even come close to. This means the 5800X actually renders faster.
Because I had an under-vaulted 5900x and the 5800x3D spanks it into the middle of next week when it comes to gaming, particularly MSFS. It’s nothing to do with clock speed and Cinebench scores, trust me.
Given the above I can only assume therefore that it would be night and day compared to the 5800x.
What resolution do you play at? and what gpu do you have, I think that’s likely to make a big difference.
4K, but that’s academic really. The difference is even more pronounced in 1080p by all (many many YouTube videos) accounts.
If you look at all the reviews of the new gen Ryzen and newest Intel, including the 7950x3D the 5800x3D more than holds it’s own. It really is a remarkable chip for the money.
Actually not academic but very useful information. I am wondering how my already maxed out 3060 would perform with it.
I had a 2080ti and 5900x and was constantly CPU limited, no matter what I did. I then changed the CPU for the 5800x3D and just like that was relentlessly GPU limited. Then I got a 3090 (not TI) and it’s now a mixture of both, with everything turned up to 11 and LODs at 200.
I also play an older Train Sim game which runs on DX9 and is notorious for being very heavy on CPU’s. Literally in the blink of an eye that game is now heavily weighted towards the GPU, and often has this 3090 completely maxed out.
Given it’s a simple swap, you’ll recoup some of the cost back by selling the 5800x and you don’t have to upgrade your motherboard and RAM etc it’s a no brainer. I was very sceptical to start with but have no regrets about making the change.
The only caveat to this though is that if you use your PC for things other than gaming, particularly processor intensive tasks, that has to have some bearing on your decision. Obviously it’ll be no different to the 5800x but I’d say it’s a smidge slower than the 5900x for this sort of thing. Gaming though, hands down winner.
To me that sounds very much like I would have to upgrade my gpu too… (I guess that means I have to persuade my wife she needs a better gpu on her PC)
… Facebook better watch out!!
