I just noticed :
- Memory and stability improvements
Is it a noticable perf improvement at all for PC users or this is another bandaid for Series S and X users?

It hasn’t addressed the loading time issues.
However, that wasn’t mentioned in the release notes.
Exact same situation and camera angle and time.
Weather preset - Same time, Same plane - Zero traffic all sliders to 0 - No mods other than navigraph data and 736.
3fps loss over SU12.
first time i rolled into the beta so i can’t say anything on the smoothness or stutters etc yet.
5800X3D - 7900XTX - 32GB RAM - Win10
I see something strange in the FPS counter between those two screenshots…
The SU12 has worse (higher) numbers for all of the ms values except the one right below the actual FPS counter, yet it has the better FPS value. It would seem that the main thread value is the limiting factor in both, yet the SU12 value is worse.
Just an observation.
Maybe it gives a hint as to what (not) to look into for the beta as a cause of the worse performance.
This is really bad if each new SU would eat up FPS from the previous SU.
You’re using a 3rd party complex aircraft to do this comparison. What if that aircraft is the source of the fps drop? Has pmdg specifically updated the 737 against the beta build? I’m not saying this is needed or is indeed the cause of fps issue but I’d suggest if possible to repeat the test with a default aircraft in order to eliminate this possibility.
As I’m not seeing any degradation in this beta could you share the location of your test as well as settings and I’ll see whether I get your before or after fps.
Yes, it has returned stutter free like SU12 for me.
I just stepped out of the beta, and gained 7 FPS. I already had the impression that things had become worse, but didn’t expect such a difference. Will do some flights soon to check if I am now back to a much smoother performance.
I think there might be an improvement. The CTD happens almost immediately when I click the Fly Now button. No stutter at all before seeing my desktop again.
Much better.
yeah it keeps going downhill.
it’s like we lose a couple frames every sim update since 8 or 9.
mainthread was lower on my 10700k old setup than my current 5800X3D
I just hope it has to do with some debugging stuff they left in the beta version, which is then hopefully removed before final release of SU13.
Sim update 13. Build 13. Do I have to say more?
Simple answer to the OP. No performance has not improved in SU13.
SU13 seems to be more focused on World Updates, which I feel have no place in any SU.
World Updates should be released as a hotfix/patch, not tied in with Sim Updates.
The stutters are still there unfortunately.
i’ve just rolled back.
for those that roll back always delete these files first manually (first rename your msfs install folder so it doesn’t uninstall it completely and then opt out and restart pc . redownload)
somehow asobo always keeps those the beta version and causes issues.
We can all agree how bad the Performance sometimes really is. I have just flown over Dusseldorf/Cologne Area in Western Germany coming from Amsterdam in the 787 and I had about 20-35fps with terrain 400 live weather and fsltl traffic on. I am on a 4090, 64gb ram and a 7950x3d so really there is a barely any better hardware. Terrain lod on 200 may give a few fps more but i feel like the fps are not even the problem but the permanent stutters and stops, especially when you move the camera around.
Maybe they are starting to downgrade the sim slowly so we can all buy the new 2024 version Hmmmm.
honestly wouldn’t surprise me Tuna.
seems like barely anything is done on the core sim either, no improvements, no new features.
just Working Title carrying the workload to push out AAU’s it seems.
only makes it feel like 2020 will be abandoned after all even tho they say they won’t.
I had ctd when i clicked the fly now. After I deleted rolling cache and extra views (in experimental) it worked. I just re-configured the views.
You know what’s really sad? Now when I exit a flight, if I end up at my desktop a few minutes later, I catch myself wondering if I actually exited the sim or got a CTD and skipped the main menu altogether.
