Performance issues - Latest Windows 10 KB5001330: Watch out for these critical issues in latest update

FPS drop and Blue Screen of Death

Users are reporting game crashes, graphical stuttering and huge drops in frame rates, but the problem can be resolved by manually uninstalling the cumulative update. Only some users have reported these issues on forums and it doesn’t appear to be as widespread as other bugs.

Some configurations of Windows 10 are encountering more serious problems thanks to a recent update “KB5001330”, with users reporting installation issues, performance issues, temporary user profile bug and worrying system crash.

My problem: After uninstalling, the game no longer launches, after starting I see the spinning wheel and then just black screen forever. It’s definitely uninstalling the update that causes this, as I restored from backup to immediatley before and then it works. Anyone else have this problem?

EDIT: Using fastlaunch fixed the black screen issue!

Tech Radar and other sites publish these types of articles on the regular. Mostly, they are just histrionics. My system has this update and both it and this game run just fine.

I tried uninstalling the noted updated, didn’t help with the stuttering at all. Also tried rolling back to earlier drivers, etc.

I refuse to believe that 20% FPS drop in my usual test area far away from WU4 is caused by anything other than WU4. It wasn’t a problem 10 minutes before I patched, but it became a problem just after.

This topic is in reference to a Windows 10 update, not WU4.

the topic was intended more as a hint or information. it may be that it helps one or the other something. i know at least of two people who are affected by it. a friend of mine and a colleague.
