Greetings,

I Just started using mfs2020 about a month ago and have fell in love with it.
I have been noticing some people play the game using ultra settings And get pretty smooth frames, even in the larger cities. If not Ultra, some use High and get greats frames in those dense cities.

I understand 30-40 even 25 FPS are good for this sim.

I have grown more and more curious on how I could get better frames. I currently run on the high preset and it runs great but anytime I fly above a decently size city I get lag and stutters.

I have tried watching all the “boost your FPS” videos and forums and tried different things but nothing has seemed to help. The reason I have became more curious about this is because some of the people I see play high or ultra and get smooth frame rate in those highly populated places have PC specs that are same as mine if not lower.

My Specs:

CPU: i7-8700
RAM: 32g
GPU: RTX 3070
Installed on 1tb SSD

My question, is there something I could do to smooth out my FPS over this dense cities. I’m not wanting ultra settings, I’m satisfied with high but if there is a way or something I’m not doing that would help with the FPS I would greatly appreciate any advice.

Glad you’re having a (mostly) good experience!

The i7-8700 might be the issue, but there are things you can try that might help.

  1. Increase the size of the Rolling Cache. By default it is set at 8 GB; try 16GB and see if that helps
  2. Increase the size of your page file to least equal your RAM.

Do the first step first, and change only one thing at a time… that way you’ll know if your change made a difference.

The easiest gains are to step down one Global Setting from whatever your at now (i.e., if at Ultra go to High).

Turn down AI Traffic sliders, that will net you some frames easily.

Turn off Live Weather and use Presets.

Thank you, I have heard the live weather can have an effect on FPS. I run through my settings and change what you have suggested!

I have been noticing many people are saying the latest update we had for MFS has caused performance issues for a lot. To My recollection, the city I flew around for the very first time did not stutter or lag much at all but the last time I flew around it (after the latest update) It has been giving me issues?

Could the update may be causing issues for me too?
