There was a noticable improvement especially much less VRAM usage in 1.6.3.0 and 1.6.5.0 but the last update 1.6.7.0 has removed that again.
I think Asobo needs to look into this. definitely more AMD users with problems
Found a apparent new bug, the sim freezes every time at Houston (Default Scenery)
Are you talking about AMD GPU users or AMD CPU users?
I have an AMD CPU and an Nvidia GPU and 1.6.7.0 is performing the same as 1.6.3.0 for the type of flying I do. Mostly low and slow GA stuff.
Only main gripe with this Beta apart form the ATC and other issues is most of the GA planes I fly are no longer working correctly or in the case of my beloved A2A Comanche, not at all.
AMD Gpus! Most of us have a AMD cpu id expect
Unfortunately, the 1.6.7.0 build - which has performed the worst for me - of all three is also the one we’ve been using the longest.
I’m constantly checking for a new build and would be happy to try one out as soon as it’s available.
I cannot accept the terrible performance degradation and have returned to su3. The development team may be on vacation or busy expanding revenue on other hardware platforms, making 2024 a mess.
Yeah. I believe the Series X also uses AMD chip.
I’m using 5900 amd cpu and 9070xt graphics card and I don’t have any of the problems described. Performance is excellent and I am very happy in the state of the game.
These are the exact same findings I had. In fact, I had just purchased a 5060TI 16GB and on the first SU4 beta it was running amazingly. I could actually fly out of Heathrow and over London, in the Fenix, with ZERO stutters. Then they put out the 3rd update to the beta and it was obvious, something was off. I don’t know what they changed, but it wasn’t good. lol

If anyone is using Nvidia + Frame Rate Limiter + VSync, it was limiting me at 30FPS despite being set at 50 (mainly for power savings). Turning off the frame rate limiter and just using Vsync has me at 60FPS rock solid in 4k.
V Sync + FreeSync is the best Combo.
Same for me since the latest SU4 version, I’ve been experiencing significant stuttering when changing views…
I no longer use their FPS limiter because I find it buggy. I just use vertical sync at half the refresh rate in NCP. It’s slightly smoother, but it doesn’t prevent the stuttering…
I am finding that the stutters/lag etc are worse at night. I wonder if theres something in that.
I thinks the slutters when changing view occurs because everything is loaded every time camera is changed.. When I switch from cockpit to 3rd person I see the top left map reloading and causing slutter, aned everything around the plane, like traffic (on the ground) 3D models, character etc..
And same when you go back to cockpit, all of my instruments are blurry for 0.5 to 2 seconds exactly like everything that is not on the screen is being unloaded from the memory, this issue exists still: SU3 but it getting worse with SU4
Hiding new performance issues with framegen, frame limiting and/or Vsync except for a short tests doesn’t help us find our way to better overall performance. I expect to use those syncing techniques and framegen for everyday use after release but during beta releases we need to go without and compare with previous releases.
Also depends on the airport/area. loads of lightning adds CPU and gpu load..
Was it fixed in 1.6.11.0 ? Didn’t see anything in the patch notes
It improved a lot for me
