Persistent stutters and flight interruptions since SU5 on High-End PC

Apologies for forgetting to include this in my previous post! Here is the direct link to the DevSupport ticket and the exact statements that clarify the situation.

Link: https://devsupport.flightsimulator.com/t/carrer-mode-breaks-sounds-when-plane-purchased/17945

Regarding the root cause, it is confirmed to be an underlying issue: “This seems to be a bug on the base core, I am sure they will fix it quick.” [Raul 2026, DevSupport]

Asobo has provided a specific workaround to resolve it when it occurs: “They are saying when this happens, you restart the sim, come back and everything will be ok. Then, restart the sim and see if you keep the plane and everything works, this is what Asobo is advising.” [Raul 2026, DevSupport ]

Interestingly, the bug does not affect all players equally: “Is odd, because some users are using it on carreer mode withouth isues.” [Raul 2026, DevSupport ]

This should clear up the chain of events and show exactly what is currently advised.

That’s what I thought as well - that you were referring to this bug. In that case, the bug reported by Raul has nothing to do with this topic. It’s a completely different issue.

SU5 has been a huge disappointment to me personally. I had great hope after reading several of the comments from beta testers. I wish they would put the beta testers into categories depending on the hardware users have. It always seems the people saying how great these updates are also the users on higher end systems. Here is what I know. When SU4 came out career mode was ok but not great but much better than SU5 so far. Since SU5 I get at least 2 to 3 CTD’s in career mode usually happening in the enroute or getting ready for final. The stop shorts aren’t working correctly so you get dinged all the time for clearance issues, runway incursions or it crashes after hitting the roller coast runway or taxiways, it’s horrible now! I just wish they would get this right or just put a note out to users that no more work will be done to the career mode. It seems like they take 1 step forward and 5 steps backwards after every service update.

I have done a lot of further testing and can confirm that on my end, the cause of the stutters was Lossless Scaling. When flying around KJFK and KLAX without Lossless Scaling, the stutters occurred much less frequently, and the Sim was well playable. I have replaced Lossless Scaling by the free tool Optiscaler which I can really recommend. Its frame generation works flawless.

not sure if this is the same thing, but i’m also experiencing micro stuttering at times, with some bigger stutters inbetween some of the microstutters; something i’ve never experienced before.

landing yesterday made it much trickier… today was fine. odd thing. SU5 thing?

I have provided a video below that captures the same apparent issue recorded in your videos in post #160. Stuttering, scenery hitching and rubberbanding. Framerate is high, VRAM usage is low. TLOD makes no difference, this is on 200, but I’ve tried TLOD 100 and 400.

SU5 constant stuttering with high-end computer

RTX 4090, 9800X3D, 64GB DDR5, M.2 Drive, Nvidia Drivers 596.49

I’ve disabled Photogrammetry, and I had no stutters thus far during departure… i’ll see how it goes.

So I reported the stuttering issue after update from SU4 to SU5 about week ago. I tried everything possible but reinstalling it and nothing helped. Then yesterday I decided to give it a try also with clean reinstall and somehow, the stuttering is gone away. Reinstall itself was also not too demanding, had to copy-paste community folder plus re-installed couple of programs (chaseplane, fsrealistic, fsuipc). Controls and sertinfs remained as set before, I presume due to cloud sync (steam version). If you havent yet, give it a try, it’s not as demanding as it sounds.

My overall performance now is similar as before, super smooth and quality mostly everywhere, while heavies like FRA, LHR or AMS do trigger some auto-fps LODs decreases from final approach onwards. Camera panning in dense areas at low alts is still sometimes bit jittery, but it stabilizes quickly when autofps kicks in.

I tested it for 15 hours flying between LHR FRA BRU back to LHR and FRA again, and I didnt spot any vram leaks or significant performance degradation over time, also no CTDs.

5090 and 9950x3d.

It doesn`t matter to fly with pmdg or fenix, or with or without framegen, or each other settings. every few seconds ther are dropouts for appr. 1 seconds during flights. before su5 there occured no problems at all. why ever new problems will be create to solve another?

yes happening to me also i was at WMKP with the Fenix and it was stuttery mess every few seconds when panning around the camera both in external and internal view .and it happens in every other 3rd party aircraft add-ons PMDG 737., 777, etc. IniBuild A350 and almost all airport default or with scenery. i thought it was the scenery not compatible with SU5 but luckily i chanced upon this thread knowing i am not the only person experiencing this on a high-end PC btw with Frame Gen

I thought in SU5 beta all these basic lag / stutterry issue is nipped at the bud but what happened then after stable gets released ? 2 times already with SU4 stable release and it was laggy and with SU5 stable release still laggy/stuttery

My PC Spec: Ryzen 7 9800 X3rd , RTX 5070TI 16GB , 64GB RAM ,

Same here stutter fest high end pc no stutters before SU5 roll back to SU4 please

Suffer a lot of stutters and coming from a smooth experience with SU4 this is a major step back. Did a re-install of FS2024, started without any addons but no luck. For now it is kind of unplayable.

I am experiencing the same issue and have a 5090 and 9850X3D 64GB such a shame as SU4 was very good in terms of performance.

Repeating my feedback to the Beta thread.;

Having just installed the SU5 Beta 1.7.30.0 , I have just had an almost stutter free experience.

I had just tried to complete a flight in SU5 and the performance in the air was terrible. To the point that the GFX card eventually gave up. Every flight on SU5 release version had encountered stutters once airborne, throughout the flight.

The Beta is a vast improvement over what I have experienced since SU5 release as mentioned above.

My system i9 13900K with 64GB RAM and an RTX 4090 with the latest driver. The flight was EHAM to EGCC with the PMDG 737 800. Both airports Payware. GSX running and Say Intentions.

Hopefully this is heading in the right direction now.

Most people aren’t having issues on PC.

Did you manage to fix your issue at all. I have the same Hardware as yourself and am getting stutters only every so often but noticeable as it’s not smooth. I use Frame Gen and TAA

Well I guess the fact there is a SU 5.1 beta ongoing would indicate that there are enough issues that MS feel the need to do a bug fix SU.
Well knowing that the driving force is console issues, given the fact there is no separate code base for console, the issues causing the problem on console could also influence PC users as well.

This said I still believe there is something wrong with SU5 otherwise there would be no need to do a SU 5.1.

Just my 2ct

Tanks for the comforting perspective! While it’s wonderful that the “silent majority” is apparently cruising through a stutter-free paradise, the sudden explosion of essays from desperate high-end users in this thread suggests that SU5 might have introduced a rather selective problem.

To keep this constructive instead of just counting lucky stars, how are we actually quantifying that “most” PCs are fine? If those of us who spent a fortune on top-tier rigs are disproportionately blessed with these severe flight interruptions, what’s the takeaway here—should high-end users just accept their tragic fate, or is there a specific conflict we can help isolate for the developers? Always happy to move the discussion forward toward an actual solution!

Spent yesterday trying to fix this but it was pointless, no matter what setting I tried, everytime there was a spike in rolling cache(128GB) reading/writting the stutters were there. In VR they’re really bad.
Please fix this issue, it’s really putting me off to the point of not wanting to fly anymore.
AMD 5800X3D, AMD 7900XTX, Pico 4, Samsung Pro nvme.

Hammer, meet nail.
I’m convinced this is all a result of poorly optimized DX12 coding.
