These two steps were not required for me. It seems the first part is only required if the correct runtime is not being utilised when switching to VR in sim. The second part will just remove the Lauch SteamVR option in Virtual Destop so you don’t inadvertently start that. I guess depending on people’s configurations, your mileage may vary.
