Pico 4 Questions

I picked up a Pico 4 today. Have got it working with MSFS, using Virtual Desktop over 5GHz Wi-Fi.

For the most part, it actually looks (and runs) better than I expected with my 3080. I’m aware a 4090 is needed for best results with the Pico 4 though. However, it does periodically freeze for 3-4 seconds every so often, which is irritating. I assume that’s down to the Wi-Fi link, even though I get a steady >900Mbps according to Virtual Desktop.

Are there any recommended settings to optimise FS over Wi-Fi? I’m using the High/3070 preset but not sure if there’s anything else I can tweak. I also read about using a USB cable but not sure if that would be worthwhile? According to the YT video I watched on this, it’s unsupported and BSODs are quite common.

Thanks
Danny

You can use an ethernet cable from your router, connected to a USB C cable via an adaptor.

This guy shows how to set it up in some YouTube videos:

What does your VD overlay tell about network latency?

Thanks, I’ve ordered those bits (except the Cat 8 ethernet cable - surely Cat 6 should be fine, as the Ethernet to USB-C adapter will bottleneck everything to 1Gbps anyway?!)

It fluctuates between ~ 900 and 1200 Mbps so should be OK. It’s a fairly decent Wi-Fi 6 Asus router. But it just stalls periodically, and a little MSFS logo appears in the middle of the screen (which I’ve never seen before, so can only put it down to Wi-Fi latency).

There will be other statistics in that VD performance overlay though which may helps. Things like game, encoding and network times. During the pauses, one of these stats will likely spike giving a better indication of where the issue lays.
