Pimax Crystal light tracking

Anyone getting “micro-jitter” with their tracking? Ive printed QR codes, and set to 50hz (UK) but still getting the jitters.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Did you turn on motion smoothing, or whatever it’s called in Pimax software? What are your fps? With motion smoothing you need to have at least half of your headset refresh rate.

Its a tracking Issue mate. Not in-game jitters. Outside is smooth as silk. Its the head tracking, it jitters very slightly, like it cant hold tracking.

Apologies, I misread your post. I didn’t experience this when I was testing my PCL. Tracking was actually pretty good in MSFS and DCS.

Thats ok, Its the way i wrote it i think.

Only thing i can think of, is it must be my surroundings. Ive tried sticking up QR codes as advised my pimax, but its still got nano-jitters. Baffling.

Cheers buddy.

Are you in touch with any of our tech support? If not, please file a support ticket and include the Pimax Play log files so our engineers can investigate further.

Hello Calvin, Good to see Pimax is on the forum,

I have an open ticket running for another issue with my headset, but that is relating to my faulty lenses. I waited 14 weeks for my PCL, and now i am waiting 2-3 weeks (ETA) for the lenses, so not much flying for me. But no, no ticket open yet for the tracking issue. Last week, i didnt notice any jitters, and thought the tracking was good, but its began to jitter very “minutely”. Perhaps i didnt notice it last week, but i do now.

As most people have stated, the image is stunning, which gives me some hope. But now this tracking “Jitter” is bugging me.

I am hoping that an update will fix this.

Hello,

The patch is now live! You can check it out here: Progress Update - September 27th.

If you’re still experiencing jittery tracking, please report it to our support team using the same ticket.

Yes a solution has been found.

How i discovered the optimum “tracking conditions” was by activating the room setup, and simply looking around my play-space. I discovered that certain things were causing issues. The problematic issues in the room were the following:

  1. Out of my 2 lamps in the room, one of them was visibly pulsing light, whilst the other wasn’t. You could see this as rapid flashes in the headset. Turns out the bulb was a 50/60hz. Which seemed to alternate. No good, so i fitted a strictly 50hz bulb.

  2. The PC monitor had to be covered. It was a dead zone, where tracking was unstable.

  3. RGB lighting on the keyboard, and mouse was causing issues. Turned them off, and now stable.

  4. Other areas of the room showed instability through the headset, when light sources altered or changed. I solved tracking by making sure all the room was stable as i panned around. No flashing, no dramatic changes in light, and no dead zones caused by mirrors, monitors, RGB, lighting frequencies of bulbs.

  5. Also, turning off “camera shake” in MSFS settings seemed to stabilize the tracking even more.

So now it is solved. No more nano-judder. Replacement lenses have been shipped, so if they turn up sweet - grade A - Things will be sweet as honey.

Pray for me.

Mistracking can be caused by uneven light as they said above. Or low fps performance.
