Anyone who is waiting on the super or has one, considering making the swap or switch? My order for the normal one was to ship starting in june, now im wondering if I should wait, or, i think the modules are available now to order (and ship now?), but not the headsets with them till july, confused on that? Wondering if they will give an option to swap it out and send the normal module back, after testing if its better? For those with msfs 2024 and the super right now, how is the overlap? not sure im sensitive to that or not, i think it goes from 110 or 105 to 90 on the ultra wide?
I think the relationship between FOV and binocular overlap in an HMD is similar to how an optic’s exit pupil size relates directly to objective divided by power.
For example, a binocular with 7x35 optics has a 5 mm exit pupil.
So does a 10x50 binocular.
It’s a choice with HMD’s - more horizontal FOV or more overlap.
I personally will favor FOV. Others might favor the more ‘3D’ sense they get from more overlap.

yeah i guess no way to know which i’d prefer (coming from OG crystal) without getting the super and the super ultrawide, so ill probably order the optics module and test it and compare first

Thankfully (unlike MeganeX) Pimax seems to have a good return policy. I’m guessing they’ll swap the inserts out for you if you return them undamaged after a reasonable period.
They will have a try out program, maybe you can apply to try it.
I´m in the same position. Seems it´s not posible to edit the order online so we probably need to raise a ticket, but it´s dificult to make the decision without havent tried it.
I’d suggest waiting for reviews before deciding which option to choose. Alternatively, you could first receive the 50PPD, then pre-order the ultrawide at a discount and try it out.

Yeah, I’m sticking with my original 50PPD order, mainly to hopefully get a fault free Super delivered before the heat death of the universe. I’ll worry about the ultrawide option after seeing reviews too.

I got in touch with support, there is a form to switch to ultrawide here (if it hasnt shipped):
You can also keep the ultrawide if ordered separately after the order for the regular has shipped, however in doing that they will charge $100 (so instead of 399 for the change its 100), but can test both.
MRTV did a review of the ultrawide, sounds like he has a similar diameter to me of 64 (mine is 65mm) and saw no change in 3d depth, so its sounding like a win for the gain in fov, in theory for some anyway.
Do emotis count towards the 10-character minimum?
