Hi there,
does anyone have a problem with GNS 530 on Arrow III where aircraft does not follow flight path on autopilot despite having all set up (AP ON, HDG ON, Rotary Switch: NAV and CDI GPS). HDG works ok but airplane just not reacting to NAV mode.
Are you intercepting the Magenta line at 30 degrees with NAV armed? 430 should work as IRL - it will not automatically pick up the LNAV route unless you’re within 2 dots DTK.
Yes and even when I go direct to from my current position on nav mode (rotary and gps on) it just ignores it. Gtn 750 works ok. I tested WT 530 on default 172 and it worked as I expect (direct to and autopilot commands to follow the created flight path). I am not sure whether it is related to Piper. Maybe someone would be able to reproduce it?
I have the exact same problem. I just uninstalled the WT 530 (from marketplace), then reinstalled the Piper Turbo Arrow and nothing changed. Sometimes I had the same problem with the PMDG DC6 but not very often. I feel like it has something to do with the Garmin Units being hot swappable. (As this is the case with the Piper Arrow and the DC6)
But for the Piper Turbo Arrow out of 20 flights it might be working one time. And after switching to HDG Mode for a few minutes and then back to NAV it breaks again.
And I cannot figure out why it’s sometimes working
Thank you for your input. There is a chance that AAU2 messed things. Seems it needs to be addressed by JF and for now we got to use gtn 750 or radio version…
I´ve had similar problems with the GTN750 in the JF Warrior: HDG worked fine, but no ALT HOLD, no VS and no NAV…
There was an update for the GTN 750 today (2.1.93) and this solved my problems, everything is working fine now.
I am having the same issue with GNS530 but in Turbo Arrow IV. AP turns in Heading mode (HDG selected on mode switch) but not to follow VOR or GPS Course (NAV or OMNI selected on the mode switch). Heading and Autopilot switches are both on. Also altitude hold seems to be on whenever Autopilot switch is on whether the hidden switch is engaged or not. I cannot control pitch using yoke or trim.
No problems when using GPS or NAV course with GPS100 in place
Same here, I started noticing this problem as soon as the AAU2 first beta was released so I suspect something is conflicting there. I hope JF will do something about it soon, specially for xbox since we’re stuck with the 530…
Yes I have the same problem… It does not work.
I think I might have an Idea. when I turn on the battery the radios come on. I am going to turn them off and then start up with them off. There might be a surge of electricity that buggers them up.
Other than that I will remove the plane from it’s installation on my xbox x. It it does not work I will not fly it and I will not buy any more of JF’s planes. They should have fixed it by now.
Ages ago , I hade these problems with the different GPS-versions: Neither do the built in GPS or the PMS version work - at all. Just passing buy my WP without any change of direction. I thought this was fixed???
Similar problem here. GNS530 VLOC mode, it won’t turn onto a VOR radial with OMNI or NAV coupling.
GNS530 works fine with The C172 Skyhawk, so it’s a Piper-specific issue.
Same problem with the altitude hold thing. I can’t trim the airplane even if altitude hold is on. It holds the pitch whatever you try.
I was going mad this morning trying to figure it out, but at least it seems to be a common issue and not me being incompetent.
Bumping this thread. I fly this airplane in real life and I’m tired of people telling me I don’t know how to operate the autopilot. It does not work with the G530. I’ve tried re-installing in every order imaginable, every combination of buttons imaginable, it will not work. By some miracle it functioned once completely out of the blue, and then broke again.
I also agree with the other guy that the altitude hold function is broken as well, there is simply no way to fly this airplane smoothly without knowing when it will suddenly grab trim control away from you. It is an insanely frustrating experience trying to figure out what’s going on.
This plane is close to amazing but as long as this persists it continues to be largely unusable for any realistic flying and the most money I’ve ever wasted on an addon.
The autopilot is working correctly here with the latest version of the Working Title GNS 530, PMS-50 GTN and TDS GTNXi, so please submit a support ticket if you haven’t already done so.
Which support ticket system are you referring to? Happy to provide more information but I fly this airplane in real life, I can assure you that it does not work as intended as it is currently configured on my Xbox Series X. While I have seen from others that it does work properly in many cases, it is an extremely frustrating experience to be told over and over that nothing is wrong when there clearly is. At this point I’m almost positive it is something to do with state saving.
Isn’t it a matter of the latest fix being stuck still in the pipeline in the Marketplace for Xbox? I’m on xbox series X and definitely continue to experience the issue.
