Piper Pacer/Tri-Pacer package from Lionheart Creations

I have seen a similar issue when I was trying to edit some of the files of an addon plane in the recent past. It was for MSFS2024 but the “problem” was very similar so maybe it can be useful: because I had modified or added a file in the plane folder, I had to use the famous utility “MSFSLayoutGenerator.exe” to regenerate the “layout.json” file of that plane.

Without that step, the sim was somehow considering my modified/added files as invalid and was refusing to load or consider them. After regenerating the layout.json, everything was loading correctly, including my modifications.

MSFS 2024 is much more critical of the layout.json file compared to 2020. In 2020, the file size didn’t matter so much as long as the file existed. 2024 is much more likely to ignore files that don’t match the file size listed in the layout.json file. Both sims will flat out ignore files that don’t exist in the layout.json file.

In any event… if you make changes to any files contained inside directories of a package directory, you should run the MSFSLayoutGenerator

Changing the subject a bit here.

I have noticed that this bird will stall very abruptly, taking no prisoners, if you let the speed drop too close to the beginning of the while line during landings.

Anyone else notice this?

I am curious if it is typical of the plane IRL, or just a too sensitive flight model, or (high unlikely) me not landing it properly? :slightly_smiling_face:

If you weren’t at full flaps, that would be an issue.

If you were at a high altitude airport, that might also be the reason it seemed to be sudden.

It might also be the white line was set incorrectly. It should be about 10% to 15% above actual full flaps stall speed at sea level. IOW, the speed the plane really falls out of the sky.

P.S. You typically don’t want to be at the end of the white line (IOW at full flaps stall speed) until you are a couple feet above the runway, or practicing above let’s say 1,000 ft or much more AGL. I’ve had instructors have me practice slow flight (level flight with the stall horn blaring) while flying at pattern height approaching and above the runway. Good way to build confidence, lol. (He said I done good :smiley: )

Has there been any recent update for this aircraft ? In the SimMarket store where I bought it, I see the date is set to the 1st of September (yesterday?) but I cannot locate any kind of change log ?

There was an update not too long ago reverting to the more powerful engine. He posted about it in his facebook group.

Ah I forgot he communicates mostly via his Facebook page… Thanks for the reminder. :+1:

Here is a quote of what he wrote about the Pacer update over there:

I have launched the LHC Pacer Series ‘Update’. This is called the 'Build 5: 1.3.21 Update.

New Build version is 1.3.21

Performance Updates and Enhancements

* Air Speeds reset to what a 180 HP variant Pacer would fly at, with 2400 RPM as cruise setting on Tach

* Tail surfaces resetting to adjust for when tail rises up and low elevator command at slower speeds

* Flaps Drag was reset as it was too powerful.

* All Taildragger Pacers are not equipped with 180 HP Engines as originally intended, so their speeds will be higher as with teh first release.

* Adjustments to max RPM readouts

* Adjustments to Aileron Authority; less then it was, not as twitchy now

* Adjustments to Climb Rates

* Bush Plane Special drag from features on airframe increased

* Adjustments to fuel ranges

Me and Jerry worked hard on this. Jerry owns one and knows TONS of information on the lines of Pacers, so we did a tremendous amount of tuning to the fleet to dial them in as best as possible.

Now… Here is the low down. These are planes equipped with 180 HP engines. These are not stock base line Pacers. These are going to be 10 to 25 MPH faster then stock base engine models. The TriPacer will be a fast version of the optional 160 HP version that the factory offered. The 180 HP TriPacer version is ultra rare as the prop needs to be bigger and with a tri-gear setup, its dangerously close to the ground. So this is a fast 160 HP variant.

Hope you enjoy the new tunes… I think they do really well.

God bless, pray for Ukraine, and Happy Flights!!!

Well I gave it a quick try after updating it just a few minutes ago (in MSFS2024).

Unfortunately, the copilot is still not appearing, and now the night lighting of the gauges (panel lights) are just showing some white semi-opaque disk in the center of the glass of the gauges, which looks absolutely terrible and makes the plane unusable at night.

I’ll just uninstall it until the next update, if there is one.

However, if you don’t care about the empty cabin and you never fly at night, then you might enjoy it.
