What do you think are the best places to fly in MSFS for both the GA planes and the airliners? For GA flying I have tound myself in South Africa, especially the Western Cape. Places like Cape Town and George look just amazing even with the default scenery (even tho I got a tons of add-ons for SA).
As for the airliners - I am still not sure.
When it comes about the places to avoid I’d say France down of Paris because of the boring repetative fields, Central US&Canada and Germany (Bremen Control area) for the same reasons as France.
To an extent yes, but I also think barely anyone would be happy to fly over no sattelite areas for example. However the idea of this topic is not to shame someone or to point that one place is better than others but rather I wish to get ideas about some new flight plans.
Personally I think when it comes down to the airliners it is the scenic take off and approach plus the scenery varriety within the time of a trip that matters for me. Again, someone may have a totally different idea about it
Completely agree, but the OP was talking in generalities - France South of Paris, c.USA & Canada etc. When I’m picking a route, I’m not at all concerned about the terrain that will pass 35K feet below me. My departure and arrival points depend on a) distance (I prefer to cruise for max 30 minutes) and b) scenery - especially approach.
For GA theres just too many to list. The Pacific Northwest is excellent as are states like Idaho which is full of back country fields. And of course Alaska which to this day depends on GA heavily to supply remote communities.
Other nice places for low level GA are Nepal, Chile , nothern and NE Australia, the Philippines, PNG and generally all of S.E Asia.
This is very subjective so I want to make that clear. Boring places for me when it comes to GA are massive parts of the central USA, just a boring carpet of square fields. Im not a fan of GA over Europe as well as again just boring boring rubber stamped clone fields. Very few areas (tragically) still have forest. Flew over England to check it out and never again. Fields & hedges, fields and hedges, fields and hedges.
When it comes to airliners it makes no difference. Up there at 41,000ft you could be in FS9, FSX, X-Plane 11, MSFS, DCS makes no diff. Unless of course you choose a route where you want nice scenery on the brief time you are at low level (take off & landing)
I started with Texas covering every city with photogrammetry in every state. Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida have all been covered and I’m currently on Georgia.
What I will say, is that Panama city BEACH, is very detailed. Panama city has a city navigation marker, but Panama city beach does not but Panama City Beach is where it’s at. Super fun, fly over that. I also was impressed with Kissimmee Florida. Another photogrammetry city that isn’t listed as one but it has multiple miniature golf courses, golf courses, schools, commerce, go kart tracks, and a theme park. Very fun city to fly low with a slow plane.
In terms of places to avoid. Atlanta. While it is very detailed and looks great, it stutters for everyone. Major lag regardless of the system you have. I hope Atlanta can get fixed as it’d be a shame for all that detail to go unnoticed b/c people can’t/don’t fly over the area b/c of lag.
