So I’m up in the TBM on my way to KMIA right now, and I’m on AP. Now that I have some time, I’m pondering how does the developer choose their aircraft for the game. Is it whoever gives them enough access to actually build the models? Licensing? I don’t really know.
I do know that every version of FS as far back as I can remember has had the Skyhawk. The 747 was in FSX as well. But the switch from the 737 to the A320 is interesting. Both are insanely popular aircraft. Did it switch because the 737 is currently in sad mode? Or did it switch because Asobo is in France?
Anyways, I don’t expect more aircraft from the prime dev, we got what we got. But, the aircraft I’m always most excited about for third-party development world are ones that I have flown on before.
What planes are you guys excited for?
Me:
Props:
Bombardier Q400 (formerly the DHC Dash 8)
DHC-2 Beaver
Jets:
A330/340
MD-80 series
MD-11 (proud owner of PMDG’s MD-11 for FSX)
Lockheed L-1011
Embraer E175 or Bombardier CRJ9
-Q400 which Majestic Software is currently working on porting theirs over! Can’t wait.
-Aerosoft’s CRJ
-Piaggio Avanti EVO model that I’m somewhat working on with the spare time I have. I’m doing it by myself and want it to be of the highest quality so might take a while.
-Gulfstream maybe lol idk if thats possible
-Daher Kodiak
-PC12
I just splashed out on the Carenado 2020 Cessna - mainly to see how far 3rd party developers are currently able to produce 2020 planes
Initial Impressions are that Carenado must have FUDGED a lot of things to make it work in 2020, covering up the limitation imposed on the ASOBO planes by the current sim.
So I al looking forward 9and expecting) updates form Carenado, as tthjngs get more in line.
Conclusion: MSFS2020 has impressive graphics, but as a FLIGHT Simulator, it has a long way to go.
Actually, even the Graphics are not that great – by current standards,
A VR immersion in Google Earth , graphically puts the Sim to shame.
I was expecting Google Earth … and all I got was sucky Bing !!!
I’m mostly waiting for the PMDG 737, I love the attention they put in it. Also the Dash8 for my Mediterranean flights (Olympic days), and the Embraer 190 to fly my KLC between Amsterdam and Great Britain trips in style
Super excited for the Aerosoft Twin Otter. It’s the single most gorgeous plane I’ve had the privilege to fly. Aside from the DHC6, I’m interested in a Saab 340 - another plane I’ve had the pleasure of flying (albeit, it wasn’t always pleasant because of how awkward everything is setup).
Honestly hoping for some cool jetliners that haven’t been done to death yet, like the A350 or 380, or some more unique prop planes like the Twin Otter too. Kinda over the constant rehashing of 737/747/cessnas etc. that every sim already has loads of
A2As GA (Cessnas), their warbirds (Spitfire, P51 (that thing aktivly tries so kill u)), but for the most part i wait for their study(?) level Boing B377 with Captain Sim this Addon its amazing immersion an system in depth wise.
Besides that Glider (i kindam iss the sound of the vario going up) and some fast jets !! The world is so beautiful and amazing and the planes in the sim atm are sooo slow
Only really exited about Aerostar 600 from A2A at the moment. As for turboprops and jets, their invention was one of the greatest tragedies of the 20th century.
I personally don’t mind turbos and jets. For me what I sometimes enjoy is a throw-back to slightly less glassy cockpits. Give me a bank of gauges and switches occasionally. That is why I like the MD-11, it is a nice mix. The L1011 would be even more retro.
Something zenful about sitting around for 10 minutes while the IRUs align.
I’d like a Q400 as that’s what my local airline mostly fly and I’ve a friend who pilots them.
I’d personally like some kind of microlight to fly slow and low taking in the scenary.
Concorde - Because everyone my age wanted to be either an Astronaut or a Concorde Pilot!
Completely pie-in-the sky, an Ekranoplan. Given they’ve modeled water and we already have have the Icon that can float it would be interesting to try something totally different.
