I’ve been flying in north Africa on the Mediterranean lately and what I’ve noticed is that airports which supposedly have runway lights (source Navigraph) do not have them turned on at night. I’m not talking about small airfields but about those bigger airports. It seems only main hubs such as internatinal airports have runway lights lit at night…
Question: how do I know IN ADVANCE if an airpoirt which supposedly have runway lights does have them on at night in MSFS?
It sounds like you’ve visited airports that don’t have any lights at all (at least, not represented in MFS). Runway lights should be ON 24/7 in the sim if the airport has them - I’m not aware of any cases where the lights are on a timed schedule.
Not entirely accurate. Many airports that have runway lights do keep them off certain runways at night to conserve energy; inb multiple runway scenarios, they leave only the active runway lights on and the others off. Some airfields the pilot turns on the lights by tuning a specific frequency on the radio. Its hit or miss.
