Please allow the unrestricted use of mods, even in Career Mode

Dear Microsoft/Asobo Team,

please allow the unrestricted use of mods, even in Career Mode.
Mods that do not affect the gameplay of other users, regardless of their type, should be permitted because it is purely a personal decision how someone wants to play their game.

Since Career Mode contains no competition between players, the progress of individual players is not compared anywhere, and each player plays in isolation within a single-player experience, there is absolutely no reason for any restrictions of this kind.

Please unlock all features of the SimConnect API in Career Mode and allow modding within Career Mode as well.

Everyone should be able to play the way they enjoy and how they see fit. Other simulators (e.g., Farming Simulator) also allow modding, and it works wonderfully because everyone plays the way they want.

EDIT:
There are rumors that modding in Career Mode is be blocked because you plan to sell boosters and credits for Career Mode in the marketplace in the future.

Please reconsider this decision if it’s true. It’s fine if you want to make money, as long as it’s a win-win situation for both sides and not a cash grab. Good skins and quality new content are always welcomed and gladly paid for by players. And it also wouldn’t cause any issues with our mods.

Conspiracy theory is that they will sell credits, boosters or whatever to user on career mode, in which case there would never allow mods that would nullify said purchases. Just conspiracy theories, let us all hope it is just a crazy conspiracy theory :stuck_out_tongue:

Maybe, but we should still address certain issues.

If that happens, they will kill the career mode.

Selling boosters oder credits im Marketplace would definitely upset a lot of players.

It might upset some (including me) but I’ll bet you they make a bucket of money, at least in the short term, first year or two.

Maybe they are more creative than just selling credits and boosters.

Hopefully they concentrate on dlc’s, skins and addons like many other succesful games.

We will find out sooner or later…

Very well, you are even encouraging them to do it.

If they want additional revenue streams in the game, they’ll do it one way or another. It’s fine if they want to make money, as long as it’s a win-win situation for both sides and not a cash grab. Good skins and quality new content are always welcomed and gladly paid for by players.

But simply selling boosters and credits would be a massive disappointment.

There’s no such a thing like conspiracy theories. In career mode there’s a big, green button to press to get in the marketplace and buy liveries for your plane. I’m not judging this kind of business model ( pretty common, to be honest ) but who’s asking to allow freeware mods in career should know that it will not happen unless things go so wild that they decide to completely change the design of this game mode, which is clearly designed to bring new players in the sim and in marketplace to generate revenue value. Again, no pun intended. It is what it is.

Folks, please keep on topic. This topic is about having the ability to use mods, not about selling boosters and credits for Career Mode. If you wish to discuss that, please create a separate topic in the Discussion Hub.

Going off-topic - particularly in the Official Microsoft Flight Simulator > Wishlist and Bug Reporting Hub - may reduce the likelihood of the Microsoft / Asobo team taking action on an item, as their time is valuable & posts with relevant and / or critical information may be missed due to being lost amongst all the off-topic posts.
Thank you.

You are right.

If you want to use mods at this age of the sim, 2024 is a beta at Best

This may be an unpopular opinion, but so long as it’s quality content and fair price, I’d be willing to pay for it. Credits for career mode though? Nope.

Oops. Sorry - didn’t see this before my last post. Roger that and thank you!

I hope they do allow this. The current restrictions really make it a lot less fun and the slight advantages won’t keep me from going back to 3rd party career mods like Neofly if they don’t allow it.

Yes please!

MSFS 2020 has a lot of good mods and the community was/is very creative and productive creating new ones. It doesn’t make sense to take away a big part of what made MSFS2020 successful.

Most players loved the freedom MSFS 2020 gave them to modify and play the game how they want.

I hope MSFS2024 will have the same freedom too.

I suppose they could have a “pure” career mode with strict rules (some people have indicated they find value in that) as well as an open career mode where anything goes, and you can have separate save files for them.

ps: not laughing at you @EzRyder6869 by any means. I’m laughing about Jorg’s comment
