Please bring back the "SET AS DEFAULT" option for controller profiles

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

Since few SU3 beta versions ago (the one that brought major improvements to controllers setup) the option for a controller profile to be set as default was removed for some reason.

What happens now is that new planes/helicopters or planes/helicopters that I never flew before since 2024 launch get random profiles assigned in first flight. One of my profiles for Keyboard is EMPTY and is used for testing when profiles are (still) going crazy from time to time.
That profile is never used in a plane but gets assigned often to the new plane I test.

For example today I was experiencing “infinite” loading bug (again a thing sadly) with the small circle forever turning after hitting Fly Now and while trying to find out what is going on I restarted the sim and selected the Cessna 172 which apparently for the sim looked as a never flown plane (although I think I did flew it a while ago) and the sim assigned the EMPTY profile for the plane keyboard so after it loaded on the airport no keyboard button was working anymore. Including the ESCAPE to get to show the menu… only solution was to Alt+F4 the game.

This happened few days ago with other new planes also so it’s not a mishap connected just to my 172 case.

With the option SET AS DEFAULT available we can make a GOOD and Neutral profile for any controller and then assign it as default. That means for any new plane that profile is used so at least we get minimum functionality on the ground and don’t find ourselves in bad situations like… imagine you have a throttle set on ZERO but is also used as a Collective so now it means MAXIMUM UP which means when we hit Fly while spawning already engine running the helicopter will simply fly off the ground and crash in a second.

The SET AS DEFAULT options was a good one and I understood it from the start of MSFS2024 and considered it a good one. Now we have only APPLY TO ALL PLANES options which is almost the same but has 2 bad parts (which was the reason initially Set As Default option existed I think:

  1. It modifies recursively older profiles already personalized and assigned to other planes.
  2. For new planes still there is no solution a profile will be picked up randomly it seems.

And a clarification. I am not talking about the “Default” profiles the sim comes with for some well known controllers. Maybe that was the reason this option was removed because it created some confusion. Because the “default” factory profiles are untouchables and can’t be modified without resaving them as a copy. I am talking about profiles created by user from scratch or by modifying an existing profiles… default… factory or not and then assigning it as DEFAULT for all future planes/helicopters/etc.

I did search for such issue raised by other and found nothing similar just something talking about the “factory” profiles named “default” which is a different issue.

Did you experience this issue before you joined the Beta?

This was an unfortunate modification since few SU3 betas ago came with major improvements to profiles.

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?

Yes, no mods.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

Everytime now…

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Create a profile
  2. Try to assign it as default for new/never flown planes
  3. Something gets assigned randomly… sometimes a totally empty profile for vital controller like Keyboard.
