Agreed. It’s a problem with the implementation, not the idea. In X-Plane I ended up putting away my HOTAS setup and flying sitting on a sofa with nothing but the VR controllers. At the current stage, that’s not going to be a satisfying experience with MSFS.
The MSFS implementation feels like a mod or hack. The movement is not 1:1. When I twist a knob, it should rotate by the exact same degree as my hand in real life, but it doesn’t. Same with the yoke. When I grab a surface point on the yoke and move my hand by one inch, that point on the yoke should move by exactly one inch. But again, it doesn’t.
Just having motion controller support doesn’t necessarily add immersion. You need to do it correctly so that everything behaves as one would expect in real life.
