Hi there, I’m VR-only player, have played since the beginning of VR support in MSFS, I’m using a quest 2 with link connection, here’s the specs,
- i9-9900K @5GHz (with hypertreading disabled frm bios, 9th gen CPU)
- 16GB DDR4 3600MHz CL15 (I wanted to upgrade to 32 but these rams are impossible to find, with CL15, trident G.Skill, if anyone could suggest where to find them, appreciate…)
- RTX3080 with 10GB Vram, driver is 512.15
- M2. SSD drive, 1TB that I have partitioned, for O/S and MSFS, both on the same device (on diff partitions)
- Windows 10 pro
- Quest 2 updated to latest avlbl version, using link in wireless mode (I saw no differences/improvement with cabled) and 1.1 supersampling with 90Hz
- MsFS SU9 beta version -
- I’m using DX12 as in dx11 it’s unplayable in VR on my machine (can’t get 20fps, no matter settings…)
I can’t understand how to get decent performances with the A320FBW (latest dev version, not experimental), I tried different scenery (msfs default, not third part content) both in bigger cities, (like Barcelona), and in the middle of nowere, (lil airports in tuscany, italy); i’m getting max 25-28 fps and GPU and CPU not going anywhere near 40% usage… (using msi afterburner and rivatuner to see fps and usage; I’m also using OpenXR toolkit to see the fps inside the VR helmet)
I have capped the fps in Nvidia Control panel to 45 (half of my Quest2 refresh rate), and I’m using OTT to set ASW disabled and reduce rendering FOV to 0.7/0.7 (doing this to use higher supersampling while being able to read the lcd displays)
obviously with other planes, like the default 172 or the payware airbus H145 (helicopter) beta 9, I am getting flawless 45 fps performance smooth and no stuttering…
