The last 3 flights that I’ve done which were 2-4 hours were ruined because of the ils approach…
Firstly I always choose vfr high altitude with a direct approach and then let atc give me either a visual approach or an ils landing… now for example on my last flight of Heathrow to Egypt they gave me the ils of vor dme 24r. So I went into the destination>arrivals and simple imputed that… now the plane is actually inputting the approach but EVERY SINGLE time it for some stupid reason gives me a massive loop around, like the ils landing goes in but it will also tell the plane to do a 180 then go back for 200 miles before doing another 180 back the way I came to my approach?? Getting so frustrated with it now I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong
Do you activate APPR mode via the PERF page in the FCU?
No, it’s not your fault. This is a known bug.
Hopefully it will be addressed in this week’s update.

I don’t know which aircraft you were using (probably one of the airliners I assume?) or what you were doing before inputting the approach or how you configured the whole flight before take off, but FWIW, in my experience this exact issue happened to me twice, once when I was trying to do a SID on autopilot, and another time when I was trying to activate an approach.
I’m not saying you did something wrong, or right (because I have absolutely no idea what you have done or were doing before the issue occurred), but in my case I later found out that it was, without any doubt, entirely my fault and my own lack of understanding of how the autopilot system (and specially the G1000 and how the entire GPS-assisted system) works that led to those couple of uncalled-for 180 degree loops.
Again, don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying it’s an user error (and I can’t claim that without looking into more data), but I’m just sharing my experience with you. That’s all.
This is the SID when AP did the loop. Turns out the reason was late and improper activation of AP, and erroneous configuration of the NAV mode, couple with misunderstanding how the NAV mode works:
And this is another uncalled-for loop the AP made. Turns out I had no idea how the approach mode in a G1000 works. I activated an approach way too late, but as a matter of fact it didn’t need to be activated in the first place. On top of that, I at that time didn’t understand how the GPS waypoints work. It took me a bit of reading the G1000 manual and few more test flights to get to the bottom of it all: it was entirely my fault, which I’d been blaming on the MSFS autopilot.
Thanks yeah to be honest I’m expecting it to be my fault as I doubt a bug this big would exist for a while, all I’m gonna say is I start flight at a ramp start the engines etc myself and 1 minute after takeoff autopilot goes on then it stays on, as soon as the atc tells me the ils I just go into arrival and add the ils (I always leave the star and vias blank) they always tell me via xxxx transition but I purely just add the r24 or whatever
Annoying cause I love the game but it just keeps happening and I cant seem to figure it out it doesnt make any sense now its just making me never want to do a flight
I highly suggest you watch these
and
Nvm I’ve just been watching alot of full flight videos and skipping through, seems all the people that know what they are doing use simbreif so I’ll start using thag
