A key part of ATC and flight planning in both GA and commercial is speed and spacing. Even if there’s no bearing on other traffic, it would be great to have callouts that provide speed guidance, i.e. 250kts below 10000msl
Speed call outs are only made for sequencing…ATC does not give you reminders that there is a speed restriction below 10000’ or within certain airspace classes. You are expected to know and follow those rules.
Speed call outs are already in the sim ATC but for GA rarely make sense. If your aircraft going downhill at full power will barely scratch 200 KIAS you won’t bust the 220 limit you often get from ATC.
IRL ATC on occasion may also ask for certain speeds above “normal” such as maintain 120 until IM or short final when you are flying an ILS approach in a C-172 with big-iron traffic following you.
Not sure how feasible that would be in the sim.
I wasn’t talking about GA. ATC calls out speed for spacing commercial traffic and sequencing into arrivals or on departures into airways. And they will let you know if you violate a speed restriction at or below FL100. That’s what I am suggesting.
This is what you wrote…"no bearing on other aircraft means it is not speed for spacing or sequencing. Some of that…though somewhat non-sensical already is in MSFS. When you get instructions to maintain speed at or below xyz.
I have never heard ATC remind an aircrew of the 250kts restriction below 10000ft…I did hear them tell a flight crew to call a number after landing and mention that the speed restriction is in effect.
