Please provide a professional looking static screen option for the intro

I respect the work that went into the 2024 trailer but it is already so old and very arcade like. As a former professional pilot who uses MSFS for procedural training as well as entertainment, I would much prefer an alternative set of static screens which showcase a more technical and serious use case for the sim. The loading screens options could be varied and allow user choice for which options they prefer to see during sim loading.

I’d rather they focus elsewhere.

A clever friend of mine (@flyndive) has found a way that you could do this yourself if you want to get your hands dirty a bit:

Swap out your 2024 load video.

First locate the correct folder:
MS Store : …\Program Files\Limitless\Content\Packages\fs-base-videos\Videos

or : …\Program Files\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\Content\Packages\fs-base-videos\Videos
Steam : …\Steam\steamapps\common\Limitless\Packages\fs-base-videos\Videos

In order to be able to restore the original video, I recommend renaming the original file “PressStartVideo-4K.mp4” to something like “PressStartVideo-4K.original”.

Copy your chosen MP4 file into the folder and rename it “PressStartVideo-4K.mp4”.

To restore, simply delete or rename the file and rename the original back to “PressStartVideo-4K.mp4”.

———-

So in your case just find a way to get the static images you want into a slideshow saved as MP4 format and bingo!

as stated by @Baracus250, you can change to whatever you like. Here’s what I did for mine a while ago.

Grab the file down here and replace the original “PressStartVideo-4K.mp4” with my file. Keep a backup of the original file too…

Interesting, I’ll probably try that. Not because I don’t like the original video. It’s fine. But, it stutters a lot. Why would a simple intro video have to stutter? It doesn’t radiate optimism and confidence in a game when even the intro video stutters. I know, it’s not really a thing as long as the game itself runs fine. Just a little side note.

wishlist was fullfilled by the community itself. There are a Star Wars style option aswell somewhere on FST.

That’s just to get you “in the mood”

Oooh that one is epic!
There are a few others here already!

THANKS so much for your response. This is a fantastic workaround and could be so easy for Asobo to implement into the sim as an option but also not hard for the user to accomplish. This is exactly what I had hoped for, though I figured Asobo might want to compile a few “optional” loading screens of their own. They could even title them to suit the mood of the user. Anyway…great solution and thanks again.

I’m hoping for that too! I didn’t think it was one “wish” and out!

Looks great but URL shows the file has been deleted.

I like the idea of being able to change the opening screen…it does get tedious. Not sure I would want to go with the mood of the user. Based upon some of the toxic posts I have read in these forums, Asobo would need to create some dark and foreboding opening sequences.

I uploaded my file to flightsim.to and it should work now. Enjoy!

No Intro Video Link

I updated the file to use H.264 as some users were having issues playing it (Missing Codec)

I just copied one of the smaller intro videos to replace the trailer to reduce risk by incompatible video format

BTW: Todays patch reverted the file

The problem here is that it doesn’t kill the music. I think only Asobo could do that.

You have the option of turning the music off in the sim audio settings.

It doesn’t work before the intro video, it still plays the music until the game loads with your sound settings.

Unfortunately to mute the music that plays while the game is loading, you have to change the value in the volume mixer. (Settings/Sound/Volume Mixer). I have like four of them for FS24 if I remember correctly. Just find the right one and slide it to zero and the music will mute.

Actually if you take a look at the SDK documentation there is possibility to start MSFS 2k24 without playing the intro video, would have a spare while then I’d find it in browser history…
