I‘ve been interested in purchasing the 737-800 from PMDG for quite a while now as I also have the Fenix A320, both aircraft being popular amongst simmers. I see though that it‘s only available in a package with the business and cargo variant. I, as probably other simmers focus on the airliner variant and thus would not make any use of either other two variants in the package at the current special offer price on the PMDG site. My question is, will it be possible in the near future to be able to purchase only the airliner variant obviously expecting a lower price then? Just a suggestion.
No, they won’t do that. If you just want a passenger version, the 737-600 is available for a pretty low price since it only has the passenger version. You can download fictional airline liveries to make the -600 look like any airline you want it to. The -600 will have much better take-off and land performance and better climb rates than the -800, plus you won’t easily get a tail strike in the -600, but the -600 doesn’t have winglets and looks much different from outside. From inside the cockpit, you’re not goanna see significant differences.
If you must have an -800, then you’ll have to get the BBJ and cargo versions along with the passenger version. Yes, it’s pricey, but it’s a good quality aircraft.
Definitely not want to purchase the 600 Version, otherwise I would have done so already.
Like you, I wasn’t interested in the freight and business variants but as time’s gone on, I changed my mind. If I fancy a change up because I’m bored of flying passengers, I’ll do a freight flight or a quick hop from The Hague in a BBJ. They also have some pretty cool ground equipment features.
It’s one thing I miss about FSX, the sheer volume of choice depending on the mood.

Currently, we do not anticipate changes in the packages or pricing.
