PMDG 737 Discussion (PC Version) (Part 1)

While trying to land I have noticed that the autopilot does not stop making an eternal “woop wooop” alarm sound when being switched off. (I like to land by hand with autothrust on).
Does anyone know how to silence that autopilot warning sound? Pressing the two master warning buttons does not help

in the FMC settings.

Thanks a lot. I’ll check again. I searched for it but didn’t see it. This could be my lack of coffee though :joy:

That could be it, the 737 is not certified for AT on landing, when AP is off. Anyway, normally it requires a double press on the AP disc button on the yoke, first disconnects the AP and second silences the alarm.

Edit: It COULD of course be a bug, that has been overseen during beta. The PMDG beta team flies the 737 by the book, they wouldn’t land it with AT on, so it COULD be that it’s not silencing when done incorrectly, just have an eye on it and if necessary report it. But I’m not FCOM savy either lol

I don’t understand the Logic. If you can afford a Gaming PC that will run a complex plane like the PMDG 737, and can afford the Internet connection etc etc - then surly the sub $&0 cost of the plane, is affordable – if that is really what you want

ie If you cannot afford the 737, how can you afford the PC & Internet ( plus cell Phone etc etc )

Also, many of us realize what we cannot necessarily afford everything we may WANT … sometimes you have to make choices & sacrifices,. – which is why I do not have (and am content NOT to have) a Tesla, and my own private Twin Aircraft.

Not every “gaming PC” is expensive
I currently use an AMD Ryzen 2400G - without a graphics card.

The idea that a every true gaming PC must cost $5000 is a myth, I could buy that good-looking 450€ Radeon RX6600 Eagle and everything would run fine on ultra in 4k.
But I don´t see a reason for that because everything runs fine and fluid on medium settings currently.

But now back to that autopilot woop woop that is driving me crazy! Slooowly but steady it is driving me crazy… wooop wooop wooop wooop wooooop woooop… Maybe there is a solution somewhere hidden in the FMC but I cannot find it.

You have to be joking !! Low end /inexpensive !!!

Different world ?

I was hoping to buy yesterday as I had several hours of free time, but didn’t get the chance to in the end… That wasn’t a 9 May release in Europe - I do hope they didn’t delay it unnecessarily while they further teased and hyped with their hourly Facebook image changes etc.

However pleased it has been released and I congratulate Asobo and pmdg for getting a complex airliner over the line.

Wow - I was getting by with a 3400g before I bought my VR machine, you have my respect!

Anyone with a TCA sidestick know how to set it up with the 737?
EDIT, just had to adjust sensitivity then it was fine

EXCELLENT thank you for this tip with the autopilot button on the yoke! The autothrust stays on and programmed, but the eternal wooop wooop wooop wooop wooop is silenced

PERFECT.

Thrustmaster TCA
Autobreak switch, Park brake and Engine start/cut-off switches not working.

They have custom local variables and most likely can‘t be controlled with MSFS controls

Wow at those knobs and options, based on a few videos i watched. Very intimidating. Not sure i’m going to take the plunge yet. And that’s coming from someone who has all the Airbus terminology and procedures in the pocket.

I guess there’s a reason why Airbus is considered “easy mode”. I stand corrected.

are there anywhere manuals we can downlaod…like scars, i m a bit lost in everything…eg can’t start the engines…cant find the manuals with all procedures and set up and stuff…thanks…

I’m guessing your best bet is hands-on Youtube tutorials by the community. But after watching a couple, it’s definitely more complex than the A320. Like it said: Intimidating.

Very nice, PMDG has a terrain radar. The weather and terrain radar (with the tilting options) says INOP, but it works, swiping left and right, and has a range of 80 miles.
It´s not a GPS map, it is a radar scanning the terrain.

Maybe I find a hidden beta weather radar feature too!

It‘s actually not a radar, it‘s indeed taken from a DEM file like in the real airplane. The sweep you see is a misleading gimmick the real plane has too, but it‘s still not a terran radar like in an F18. It‘s just loading in the file that way.

I guess it would be tricky for them to make sure that the low price is just for those in certain countries? Also, due to unfortunate economic disparity, there will be some in 3rd world countries who can well afford the full price and should pay it.

Could it be an idea for PMDG and others to produce low resolution texture versions of their aircraft? These could be sold at a lower price, in both “third and first world” countries. It would enable users to enjoy the simulation and systems without the graphics that they cannot run anyway, like they do by lowering the graphics settings on the sim itself. It would also avoid users gaming the system as described above.

I’ve got an i5 with a medium end graphic card - all ppl out there, how will it hold with that, any ideas?
