PMDG 737 Discussion (PC Version) (Part 1)

I’m already “saving” up in AH2 for this and the 146 :joy:

Patience is hard both virtually and in reality!

I got £300 on reserve for the PMDG and Fenix. I am assuming each will be £/$ 150
or around that

Nohhh far less luckily! Guys over at Fenix said they were aiming at a price not higher than $70. I suppose PMDG would be in that same range too. The market is a lot bigger now so they can split development cost over the many consumers and still work out considerable profits.

I think PMDG credited $100 their NG3 customers which is to be deducted from MSFS version price of 737. So I dont really think it is going to be cheaper than that. In fact , I dont think it is going to be cheaper than $130 since no one would mind paying $30 to get a PMDG aircraft. That $100 has already been paid, gone and forgotten.

I can already hear “You get 2 PMDG aircraft for that price, so dont buy it if you dont like it”

But how many of the folks flying MSFS ever bought an addon for P3d. If they upcharge only accounting for the old customers they know they are missing out on a bunch more customers. I for one came from XP (so didn’t pay for a decent 737 ;))and naturally never owned a PMDG product but would buy one for FS.

You have a point there. I dont really know how many MSFS players are coming from P3D, but I dont think it would be wrong to assume “many”? May be they are just pure speculation here not pushing the development process as much as they can until the release of a few other add-ons (like Leonardo Maddog and Felix) so that they can see the prices and if they are priced around $90, they can easily charge $120, because they are PMDG?

That may be the case.

Not being in this particular business I would assume, however, that they at least get a rough number of users from MS (if they are a partner and if MS’s partner system works like most) and estimate a take rate to anticipate sales numbers and adjust price accordingly to meet targets.

That’s what they do in my field at least.

But I guess we’ll see. Given that I bought the ini A300 I wouldn’t think I’d pass on the 737 anyways unless it’s a grand or so

Not going to get it no matter the price. The DC6 made me realize how horrible PMDG is as a company regarding how they treat their customers.

And to be honest their products are way too inflated in terms of quality and fidelity. Which is probably why they never could land in XP, the userbase is very critical there and they don’t like to be compared against say… zibo.

But if you want an expensive high quality 737 and don’t mind the toxic community around it then just go ahead, we live in a free world.

Joke’s on you; due to PMDG’s silly real names policy I don’t take part in their community! Happy to fly their planes though!

Same for me, I came over from FSX. Had all their planes except for the DC6 but no discount for FSX-users… I know I get quality for $100 but I suppose its just a changing market now. Prices are going down from where they were. But we’ll see.

The discount was only for the NGXu when it came out for P3D. The NGXu is the updated 737 they made for P3D. The previous one was the NGX. You had to buy the plane within a certain period of time. I don’t remember which exactly. I got the plane in this timeframe and will have a 99$ discount for the NG3 when it comes out for MSFS. But again, you needed to get the NGXu within a certain time to receive the 99$ discount.

I am not arguing your opinion, however I have not heard many if any people say these things about PMD. I would love to know why you hold this opinion, not to get into a flame war or a war of words, but just to know. I have read and replied to many of your posts, and do value your input to the community.

Yup the idea is not to start a flame war.

I think PMDG is a company that sustains a false culture of excellence and precision and they construct that culture in a way that I don’t like.

They tend to dismiss product problems always blaming the user, they have a numerous group of minions in their forum that actively combat anyone that tries to challenge one of their products or just opinate about things they don’t like.

Take for example the DC6, all the planes in MSFS got a substantial FPS improvement but the DC6. PMDG keeps blaming Asobo for not “opening the channel” whatever that means. They won’t recognize their code is the problem or explain exactly why all planes got better and not the DC6 and when if ever there will be a performace improvement. Some users have been trying to push this but get dismissed with posts like “the DC6 runs perfect on my i15 94000 with 128gb of Ram and is the best plane ever”. Those comments are what the mods of PMDG encourage, they encourage a culture of wealthy presumptuous people that think they are flying a real plane and won’t be open to discuss anything with anyone. For every post reporting a problem you have at least one minion that can’t just control his impulse to say “works perfect for me, the product is perfect and the best ever”.

I just don’t like that. I think they think they are better than what they really are, have no sense of humility and are not willing to learn anything.

The 737 is probably going to be very good and many people will enjoy it, for many it is about what to buy and not where you buy it. I just can’t support the way they act with my money.

Thank you for sharing this. I was just curious and respect your opinion.

Well in the past (P3D days) they released a version for every major airliner separately with it’s own price tag. So it’s very unlikely that they chance this price politic. They just release a “full” version with all supported planes as some kind of P3D farewell offer a few month ago but only because they now mostly concentrate on MSFS. So I won’t bet that we will get this offer for MSFS in the near future.

Jokes on them. There are a few other forums I post to that require a real name. So I have a real sounding fake name. I have a email alias for that name as well.

Good job. That will teach them!

Rob is on the Q&A right now

He is excited for the Xbox. Can’t wait to see how you guys react to that.

Rob from pmdg is on Asobo Q&A? Got a link
