PMDG 737 Discussion (PC Version) (Part 1)

Fair enough, that. I may get the -9, if it’s markedly different to the -7. But the -8 is not for me, not at circa £60.

I am fine with the -700. I can fly -800 routes with it and just pretend it´s a -800, just like I fly the A320 also on routes for A321 f.e.

But I understand if people prefer to have the -800 to immerse themselves even more.
So why fight against obsession, if this is part of your hobby and what you like to do, just go ahead.
In the end it´s all about the small details. And the package includes several variants and liveries and I would assume that the -800 will get a lot of attention also in the mod section of the well known freeware site and may even surpass the other models in the long run.

Aye, pretty much sums up my thoughts on it too.

We have certainly come along way from flying every single “fictional” livery with the A320 and the two business jets…
We had a slight relief with the CRJ and many using it to fly as close as possible F100 or 717 routes…
Just waiting on doing prop routes without using a fictional livery… ATR and Pc12 cant come fast enough :weary: for those OCD people like myself :rofl::rofl:

I was afraid you’d say that…

Not a single word what you wrote is true, dear sir! What you’re referring to is not a “source selector” at least not as you’re describing. That is just to monitor the different parts of the electrical system.

The AC source is selected by the gen switches or the ground power switch.

Same for me, the 600 was an amazing price. I just hope this mess of CTDs is sorted before the release, else there is no point picking it up yet for me anyway as I won’t enjoy it.

I was particularly looking forward to the 800 also because of the 2 x Freighter / Cargo variants.

You’re right it shouldn’t be that high at 39000ft, so thats not correctly simulated. It should hover just under the amber range, around 8,3-8,4 PSI.

The auto system will fail if diff pressure goes above 8,75PSI. The theoretic max diff pressure is 9,1PSI however safety pressure relief valves open at 8,95PSI.

I presume PMDG hasn’t modeled failure of the pressure relief valve. I was an observer/passenger on a KC-135R once back in the 80’s when the cabin pressure relief valve failed open - everyone’s ears popped, and a minute later the loadmaster started rounding everyone back to the sets and handing out emergency breathing apparatus while the plane made a rapid descent.

Lucky you (joking). I fly maybe 30 flights a year as a passenger and never experienced anything, not even a go-around

The 80’s were a different time, man. And that was a military flight as well (Air National Guard), which meant none of the usual commercial carrier rules and procedures applied other than basic stuff like “descend to 10,000’ so people can breathe,” lol.

Thanks Snail!!

Gosh I was so hoping you’d chime in on this subject, and you did :beers:

Hmmm, might skip 8 and get 9 after reading reviews. Do not want too much money invested in planes, as I think need new PC for this game and XP-12, but that is next year, I think.

Hey, Big Ern made captain. Fun flight log video of his final trip as an FO riding in the left seat with a check airman for his upgrade. Nice comments throughout about getting used to the HUD, gusty landings with flaps 40 at MDW, etc. Good stuff as usual, and fun to see his big smile at the end.

You may be able to simulate it yourself. Just place the pressurization mode selector in manual and close the outflow valve with the switch. Watch the cabin descend and the pressure differential increase. I haven’t tested it myself in MSFS (or in the real airplane because I’d like to keep my job).

Always here for the tech stuff. It’s a good incentive to read through my manuals. Don’t you think for a second that I have all these numbers in my head.

I noticed that too in my last flight with the -600.
However the rocket ship this thing is, I was still doing ~1300ft/min close to FL370. With the cabin only climbing at 500ft/min couldnt that exceed the max pressure dif?

The most beautyful and exotic looking airport I have ever seen!
In this new 737-800 video that has been released.

I am not saying which airport this is to make it more exciting  but tip for the impatient ones, at 13:15 the simmer is starting to program the FMC for you to find out:

Mehhh I’m gonna hold out for that EFB (if it’s so easy as he keeps saying, why didn’t they include it in any of the updates for the 700/600?).

Probably gonna hold out for the 900 too. I already find myself hardly flying the 700 now as I just enjoy the A320 more, catching up with it after half a lifetime. Never really flown them back in FSX (and you were right @SuperSixBravo haha, they’re lovely to fly).

How is he doing this without a CTD lol. Since Sunday I cant fly anything without a CTD

Try switching servers - not sure what region you’re in but some of the Community mods here have been correlating reports and evidently there are a lot more issues in Europe than other places. I’ve been simming extensively since the first reports but haven’t had a problem on my default US East server. Haven’t been online yet today though.
