PMDG 737 Discussion (PC Version) (Part 1)

How do I change servers?

Thanks by the way

Today I flew LIRF - LIEE in PMDG 737-600 and EIDW - LFBO in Fenix A320 without any issues  I’m in Europe.

From the main sim page, at upper-right where it shows your XBox/Windows Live gamertag name, click on it - it should show what server you’re logged into and let you select another one. I haven’t had to try it in a while - hopefully they haven’t changed things lately.

Nice sadly I am following this thread, hoping for a fix.

I have not tried today, and probably won’t it’s too late and work tomorrow, but will try tomorrow.

Ok folks, let’s get this topic back on track.
Please discuss sim CTD issues in the proper category!

Just wanted to note that you’ll get a pressure differential issue rather rapidly… if you forget to turn on the packs.

Twice.

This is why I’m not allowed to fly real aircraft…

I just checked the PMDG Operations Center tonight and noticed there were two updated liveries available for the -600 and one for the -700. When livery updates appear out of the blue, it’s often a sign of good things moving about in the background. Combined with all the -800 preview photos being posted by Beta testers over on the PMDG forums, and Emi’s videos today, I think it’s fair to say the release of the -800 will be sooner rather than later unless something just blows up at the last minute.

All just finished my Cold and Dark Checklist and test flew at my favorite location doing RNAV on Rwy 24. It worked perfectly and flight was uneventful till landing, some horn going off, don’t know why. Put her in parking and going to bed. First RNAV I have ever flown. This is an awesome plane.

Beginner question:

I’m starting to unravel the mysteries of the FMC using LNM (for now) :sunglasses:.

Regularly I’m trying to enter a way point (on the FMC) which gives me multiple choices. In other words, the FMC shows me several way points at different latitudes and longitudes. When I use LNM to determine which of the way points is the right one, (by clicking on additional information) I often notice the latitudes and longitudes seem totally different.
When I simply choose the ‘first’ one displayed on the FMC, it often directs me halfway around the globe.
Is there a simple trick to determine the correct way point?

I have to rant some probably unpopular opinion: The 737-800 release will be the exact same cockpit with the EXACT same textures a third time

(With the exact same scratches, the exact same handful of ugly texture details I don´t like for example the TOGA sticker on the thrust levers looks like crumpled tinfoil, with the exact same wear and tear on the exact same spots…)

I would love to see some cockpit texture differences and aging and wear and tear differences between the three different 737 versions.

You mean during approach. Is it possible that you had flaps 15 with the gear up for a while? In the 737 the F15 setting is usually coupled with lowering the landing gear. You can have the gear down at any flap setting but at F15 you should have the gear down or you will hear the horn.

Generally there is a distance to waypoint next to it too in NM, the closest is the one I choose.

Cheers,
Nish

Waypoints with same names are never adjacent. They are almost always halfway around the globe away as you noticed it. So you can just „read“ the rough coordinates by yourself. Don‘t have to be single-digit precise.

For example:
Latitude starting N: northern hemisphere
Longitude Around E130: somewhere east asia or oceania.

That‘s enough precision to pick right waypoint.

Interesting post above from the RL SWA pilot on his upgrade to Captain, especially about his comments on the HGS and at first struggling a bit to get used to it and then after a few flights, loving it. Sounds like the HGS is now standard (at least on SWA jets). Question for RL pilots - is it mandatory to use this for all phases of flight, or just certain ones or not at all depending on Captain’s preference? Are there any good tutorials that details the HGS and it’s various modes?

Lastly, on a side note, I noted that in many cockpit videos, you can see the intercom connection hanging down from behind the pilots shoulders. Might be a nice realistic touch for PMDG to replicate this?

In my company we have HUD on both sides, not mandatory but we all use it. We usually stow it during cruise but it’s not written in our internal docs so you can use it during all flight phases as per FCOM.

Is there a way to lower the brightness of those backlights???

Thanks @TrippleSeven515 & @IdleTalk1662 ,

I’ll see if I can find the distance to the way point (must have overlooked it).

Indeed I assume they’re not accurate to the exact digit. I’ll have a closer look when I encounter multiple coordinates again.

Yes, had flaps at higher than 15, but do not remember if gear was down. Going to do it again, different place and work on FMC check list and then publish all as tutorial. Happy Flying.

Personal Comments:
Not at this time, my friend. Hopefully in a not-too-distant update.

Hi, my name is Dan and I’m a 737-aholic

I purchased this plane on 5-12 and have flown it exclusively (with one exception, noted below) since that date and almost every day. A few days I did not fly I was away from home and thus unable. I also fly with “A Pilot’s Life 2” so I’ve been able to monitor each and every flight since I purchased APL2 on 06-13.

Since that date I’ve had 139 flights and 249.95 hours (that’s just flight time and does not include ground setup in cockpit and since I start every flight Cold and Dark you can add at least another 20 minutes to each of those flights). If you extrapolate the additional first month (before I had APL2 to monitor) I must have at least 300 flight hours and over 170 total flights in this bird.

The one flight that I did make outside of the 737 was shortly after the release of the Darkstar and I spent a few minutes trying to reach Mach 10  What was I thinking?

Anyway I have over 2100 hours logged in MSFS2020 per my Steam account and since May 12 they have all been dedicated to this airliner. Funny thing is that prior to the PMDG 737 I’d only spent a small percentage of my flight time in commercial airliners. The FBW A-320 was the only airliner I’d flown and not to take anything away from the great efforts they’ve put forward for a freeware A/C, it simply doesn’t get my heart rate up on final like this plane does.

Sorry for the long post but I just had to admit my addiction.
