Thank you for that notice. Have been checking off and on quite a bit. In the middle of a flight ATM.
Of course all hail to PMDG, lords of the sim universe for the update. But gotta love the spin in the update post: “The previous update had a few scenarios which were still problematic for under-thrust and over-thrust conditions. These conditions come about because the atmospheric stability in MSFS is significantly unrealistic…” Um, sure. What sim atmosphere were they coding for but this one? The long and short of that post is, “We fixed the bug we inadvertently introduced in the last update.
”

mine is banking left to right sharply during ils final approach…
It has become PMDG style: no matter what their own issue is or what mistakes they made (bugs introduced), just blame MS/Asobo for it.
I love their 737, but sincerely dislike their communication style.
I mean they’re right about this: the Asobo atmosphere sometimes does things that are physically impossible for an airmass to do. Instantaneous speed and direction changes as if inertia somehow doesn’t apply… that’s not reality. The gust behavior is pretty good but it needs smoothed; if they would only fade these changes in over a couple seconds instead of making them instantaneous, they’d have it. Hopefully we get there.
Yeah, Randazzo is very wordy… but he’s probably not wrong that real-world autoflight logic would occasionally be very confused by an airmass behaving as it never could in the real world lol.
Pro-tip, don’t change outside plane settings after starting a flight. Your extensive background just means you’ve used various sims. As to get the blue thing, that’s under the assists which will highlight the function of whatever your clicking or rotating, it’s annoying and promptly disabled it. One out of 20 flights, never experienced that in all of the platforms I’ve used, sounds like your not getting something set right.
The amount of anger and threats I have seen the last few days across the board is something I have never seen before in my entire “career” of using Flightsim since 2002. I average 2-3 flights per day with no issues and anything that does arise is 10/10 my fault either in tweaking settings under the illusion that I can make it better even though things run fine or by mis clicking something I shouldn’t have. The other hundreds of people who do flights every day just on VATSIM alone is proof enough things work… As a community member it’s gotten to the point where it’s just become embarrassing and nobody is making anyone use this platform. Sure, we paid for it. But if people are generally unhappy, go back to how things worked for the last what 5+ years? I try to be as helpful as I can but people just don’t want to listen anymore and want to blame everyone else but themselves, if I feel this way, I can only imagine how the developers feel, we’re lucky they’re in a contract. It’s gotten old fast in just under a week.
No worries, just enjoy XP11 then if that saves you all this frustration. It is not worth it. It is supposed to be a hobby to be enjoyed (which many of us really do btw with MSFS
)
I understand your frustration as this game is after 2 years still like an alpha-version. For me this simulator is lost in his 1000 construction sites. You got WU en masse, some air racing nonsense I dont care etc etc. but the ground programm does not work. Every Su crashes something, any wu crashes something, you lost performance during flight and nobody knows why. Now the traffic is broken. Graphic is not everything and I would prefer a stable sim and not fly over Germanys WU - oh framedrop CTD but it had looked very nice.
I would like to switch to xp11 but I dont have the time to setup everything. So I start the Fenix try to fly. When it works, perfect. Like yesterday, CTD without a reason, ok, turn off the pc, I do some work or play with the kids. I dont buy anything for this sim in future. Saves money and my nerves. Maybe I am the wrong generation. I dont need this wu, air race nonsense but a stable programm. But I think that is not the goal anymore.
Shall we get this thread back on track to the 737 instead of general sim complaints?
Good point. Where the heck is the EFB??? J/K (sort of).
Anyone simulated an out of service APU engine start? I took a R/L flight a few days, ATL to MSY on a Delta 757. The entire boarding process, the air start cart was hooked up and running. That ■■■■■■ thing was loud. Pilot came on the PA system to apologize for the hot cabin, said once the engines started, things would improve. They started number two at the gate using the air cart, then pushed back and started number 1 using normal bleed air. Pretty interesting experience. I wonder if PMDG simulates the loud noise during this process? That would be very cool.
I’m guessing you changed the Nano XML Gauge setting? If so: that resets/disables avionics (as in gauges) on all aircraft, not just on the PMDG 737. As a rule, don’t change developer settings on the fly while you are … well … “on the fly”.
The whole rant basically comes down to user error. The PMDG 737 works fine, as long as you don’t rip her heart out in the middle of things. ![]()
Sorry, yes.
All - Yes, as mentioned I most likely did the deed and killed the plane. The problem is, THERE IS NOT ONE IOTA OF DATA CONCERNING HOW TO SETUP THIS MESS. Aside from members herein, posting their experiences, not one single item of documentation on what does which to what. SO how was I to know, turning that off would mess up plane. NO warnings in the setting box, nada.
As I mentioned, I love the 737, and have been flying derivatives of 737 since FS-98. Great plane, PMDG’s version is also very well done, it’s not the PLANE, it’s the stupid way Asobo codes this sim. I uninstalled as stated last evening, and the thing is staying off PC till 2nd quarter next year. IF, PMDG releases the 747, I may have to relent, as that with the BA C-17 are my two favorite of all planes ever built. Thank you for clarifying the problem. Done here. Happy flying
This thread is turning to a PMDG hatefest again but I always wonder if I’m really only one for whom PMDG 737, Fenix A320, JF 146 and Aerosoft CRJ work just fine and I wasn’t taught by a Delta Airlines MD-11 captain.
Since the flickering avionics bug was fixed,
I enjoy flying the PMDG 737 very much.
Still excited for the EFB though.
You’re not. Me too ![]()
For me the 737 works perfectly on every single flight as well.
