PMDG 737 Discussion (PC Version) (Part 1)

In total agreement. This is absolutely worthless and we should let PMDG know so much so they put it as freeware. /s

Personally while waiting for the real one I waited for a kind of realistic feel I go to the A32NX, free yet best airliner to date.

But tbh for me to shell out big money on study level airliner I love the big guys, give me the 777 or even the 777x to self challenge going into small airports

So according to jorg in the latest Q&A there was never really a problem with PMDG, and the only problem they had was load states, which is documented and other devs have worked around.

If this was the show stopper it seems a bit strange, also jorg said they have open communications with pmdg daily and almost daily in discord chats with them.

And yet Robert made fun of FBW’s @Iceman2152798 for suggesting that there was nothing wrong with the SDK or the sim platform.

To be honest the whole drama earlier this month just seemed kinda silly, and like I said then, a storm in a teacup. End of the day, PMDG will release their plane, it’ll sell like cold beer on a hot summer day, and we’ll all be happy.

PMDG need to think twice before posting stuff, that hole drama just make it worst for nothing and look very bad.

This whole kerfluffle summed up.

As long as they finally start to post some awesome 737 screenshots and videos - they can enhance these with dramatic camera angles and intense lighting effects.

More drama, more hype = more sales

If that’s the issue then I fully understand PMDG’s problem. The whole equipment option topic at PMDG comes down to loading states and if they have a problem there they can’t just “work around” like others who always load up the same way or maybe some set buttons. There come more things into play.

I fully understand that, it’s just that Robert mentioned 100 days, and these guys basically had a chuckle and said they are in contact almost daily, unless it was lost in communication, sounded very much like they didn’t actually need to assist as such, as the reference documentation.

I can’t wait for the 737 to hit, and certainly will be a day 1 for me, but I don’t understand how they both saying different.

Curious if the PMDG 737 will shoot an RNP approach out of the box. Apparently the Fenix can do this already. Sure looks nice though. Wonder how performance is and whether or not it uses Nano VG too. Really looking forward to flying this bird with integrated charts. Will it support Aerosoft charts or only Navigraph? Also curious if it uses MFS database or if it comes with a pre installed Navigraph db that requires updates.

It´s all part of the show to intensify the hype. One must be the good guy (in this case PMDG) and one must be the bad guy (Asobo) in an eternal epic fantasy-like struggle between good and evil.

But the hype would go even more through the roof if they would finally show some new screenshots

I was pretty disappointed by the statement in the Q&A.

That doesn’t shed a particularly good light on PMDG. Why would you hype up your customers by what seems like is giving the impression you don’t understand basic sim stuff?

And that the platform is new doesn’t seem to be a very good argument. I mean, freeware devs appeared to have this figured out.

The bottomline is: they managed to buy themselves a few weeks of development time without having to actually admit that their own set timeline was too optimistic.

Bah a few more weeks… Every day without the PMDG 737 feels like yoke-torture.
Maybe I should give up checking ten times a day if the Fenix Airbus or PMDG 737 are finally released…

Fortunately I have the PMDG 737 for Prepar3D to get rid of my hype.

The P3D version is only a glimpse of what PMDG treasure will be released soon in a few weeks months or years… Thanks to Gimp the program with the cutest icon ever - here are some comparison screenshots of the P3D FSX and X-Plane version and the oncoming FS20 version

Any guesses regarding pricing?

Considering that they are not going to follow the P3D model (base + expansions) but instead sell the variants independently, what price should we expect for each variant?

I did a quick review of what we have now (P3D, from PMDG website):

737 BASE PACKAGE $ 99.99 3 Variants: 737-8/9/9ER
600/700 EXPANSION $ 24.99 2 Variants: 737-6/7
CARGO EXPANSION $ 29.99 2 Variants: 737-7/8
BBJ EXPANSION $ 29.99 2 Variants: BBJ1 BBj2
TOTAL $ 184.96, 9 Variants

Average Price per variant: $20.55

If PMDG were to maintain the original price of their products, that would give an average price of about $21 per variant, so if you buy all of the variants, you would spend basically the same as on P3D.

However, I don’t see them selling each variants at that price. I mean, that would put the price at basically the same level as the Bredok3D’s 737 or CS 777/767……

Aerosoft’s CRJ 550/700 is at about $65, giving 2 variants. That puts each variant at about $33. IF PMDG were to follow this model, the whole 737 fleet would cost almost $300, an almost 60% increase of price compared to P3D.

What are your thoughts?

I’m going to guess $60 per variant and then it’s up to us to decide which variants we want. But then again, this thing is going to sell like hot cakes, or cold beer, so perhaps they have a surprise waiting.

You’re not going to be each variant separately but rather a series. So if you buy the 700 you get cargo, BBJ, etc. Thats my understanding at least.

I expect the price for each series (700, 800, …) to be around $65.
