Can someone provide some hints on how to fly an RNAV approach? Once I’m at the Final Approach Fix, do I just keep it in LNAV and VNAV, dialing the altitude down per each waypoint’s specified limits, and then hand fly from 500 to 1,000’ altitude like a standard ILS approach? Are these approaches legal in IMC conditions or only during daylight / good visibility?
Just some short feedback that this did not work for me. I’m not implying you are incorrect since it worked for you, which is terrific. There is apparently some variability here that makes this a bit more complicated.
Another tip to gently ride the brakes during pushback does in fact work. Not optimal, but it’ll do till a fix is implemented.
Why don’t you use PMDG pushback from FMC menu? It works perfectly fine.
For a pre-planned pushback using the PMDG tool, how are you supposed to calculate the distance to the centerline (or is the value showing accurate)?
Does not this tool measure it automatically? Sometimes it shows 90m, next time on another airport this value is 80m.
Is there somehow a way to use the parking brake without having to (pedal) brake and switch the brake handle? I use the keys numlock+del and the switch the hanlde with the mouse. It usually works however yesterday I was totally unable to switch the handle, it just would go into the brake position. It was a bit frustrating after having done the complete startup and when you go to pushback it doesn’t work.
I don’t have this problem myself but did you try using the default parking brake shortcut. If it’s not mapped by default you can definitely do it in the controls menu.
When I don’t do it on my controller I alternatively keep . (dot on numpad) pushed for one or two seconds and then press left Ctrl and the parking brakes always engage/disengage. I believe that’s the default keyboard binding.
Parking brake should disengage without pressing left Ctrl. I just press dot on numpad for a second or two and it’s enough.
Yep, you’re right, didn’t think of that. Disengaging comes with just pressing the brakes.
I’m going to give that a try, didn’t know about the left ctrl. Was always holding the dot and then fighting with the mouse ![]()

[03APR23] PMDG 737 for Microsoft Flight Simulator - Updated to 3.00.0065
Yesterday, 23:25
Captains,
A few moments ago we released updates for the PMDG 737 for Microsoft Flight Simulator.
This Update Round for 737:
This update is mostly “under the hood” stuff that spills into the 737 from the 777 development process. It includes improvements to drawing routines, computations for drawing images on displays, dimming lighted segment LEDs and some other logical improvements to support the work we are doing across the entire spectrum of PMDG products from the tablet to the 777 and beyond.
We rolled this update out to keep the public version in sync with what we are working on behind the scenes, and also the versions that are currently in testing for release in Marketplace for both PC and Xbox.
Speaking of Xbox:
Because I know some folks will ask: We don’t yet know precisely when the 737s will appear in Xbox. We had a few hiccups (our side) that have slowed down the 737 testing in the Xbox environment. We are hoping to have the 700 and 800 in Xbox testing this week- and from there we can make a decision as to whether they are good to release or need some work.
Liveries in Xbox:
Xbox users for all PMDG products will have access to all (or nearly all) of the liveries available in PMDG Operations Center. We are sorting out details on them and will update you once we have those details finalized.
We will not be charging Xbox users for livery packs. We have long felt that liveries are a great benefit to PMDG customers and we think they give you wonderful options for enjoyment with our products.
PMDG 737-600 / 800 / 900 to Marketplace:
We have these in the queue and are working through them. The changes Microsoft has made to the ingestion process have really helped and we think we will break these free for you quite quickly now. The holdup has been on our side, getting all of the right pieces in place, and mapping out a strategy for how we want to handle various things that we hadn’t thought of yet for Xbox users (liveres, for example!)
We are hoping to have the 800 in Marketplace next week- and possibly see both the 700 and 800 in Xbox in 7-14 days (but this is just a really strong guess right now.)
We are still learning how to “get good” with the Marketplace intake and approval process. I think we have it figured out now.
Other items:
Those who are “new” to PMDG or the PMDG forum have probably noticed that we are getting a bit quiet. This is always a sign that we are incredibly busy and have a bunch of things going on in the background. We are pushing quite hard on internal testing of the communications technology that we had to develop in order for our script based tablet to be able to communicate with the C++ based airplane. This has been a task we never anticipated, but the good news is that the work is nearly finished and we have mostly validated that it works and is robust.
I’ll be back with more news as it comes available. In the mean time, we hope you all have a nice week ahead!
I wonder why the -800 update has nearly twice the number of files as the -700?
“Dimming lighted segment LEDs”. I wonder if that means that those very bright displays on the autopilot control panel may be able to be dimmed?
1-2 weeks for Xbox release hopefully. If so, that’ll be a great day.
