Uh yeah… about that EFB. Just remain patient Captain, it’s only a year or so late but any day now we’ll surely see it.
Heard some good things about the new Nvidia drivers that were recently released. Anyone here using them and if so, what are your thoughts (if you want to provide a quick summary of machine specs and graphic settings, that would be much appreciated).
Last week, I noticed MSFS crashing to desktop a few times, whereas normally I CTD’d maybe once a month. MSFS actually showed a dialog box suggesting updating the Nvidia drivers, which I did, no problems since. I’m not much of a FPS watcher and have rarely gone in to tweak the video settings, TBH.
My rig is a modest MSI Gaming Laptop, RTX 3060
How can I solve FPS stuttering when turning on the ground?
That seems more like a scenery issue. If you’re on the ground and your LOD is too high or you’re at a fairly heavy added on airport, you’re going to get stutters as new imagery comes into play within your immediate visual range. Similar to panning around the cockpit in some instances.
It does not look like a Scenery Issue, because no matter how simple island airports, Clear Weather, FPS stutters also occurs when turning.
Are you sure? I have a very, very powerful PC myself and do experience what UpstateElf898 mentioned in some locations with addon scenery but this goes away shortly. I’ve made it a habit of doing a quick pan around when I load in just to get it over with.
I gotta say it’s was pretty cool to look at a flight’s filed plan in FlightAware yesterday, fly it in the PMDG 737-800, and then fly the real world route today in the same model plane (sadly 20 rows back from the cockpit). Same t/o runway as sim flight, landed on same runway but opposite direction. Definitely the same SID and STAR, though.
FYI, some/most United flights allow you to use FlightAware onboard via in-flight wifi, so I was able to track the flight.
Timely! Flying KORD > MDPC tomorrow, on United for the first time. Excited to track.
I also replicate flights like that, with Flightradar24 though. I just wish they also published how many passengers were on board, how much cargo they loaded and how much fuel they had in the tanks ![]()
Anyone know how to enter a waypoint like " WTRVL307022" into the FMC?
That looks like a radial with a direction and distance. Here in the states it would like something like VTU307/022 or VTU30722. In the legs page you would type VTU307/22 and it will insert as a waypoint. Same for WTRVL307/22.
You can also put a waypoint a certain distance before or after a waypoint on the flightplan route. For example, XXX/-10 will give you a waypoint 10nm before XXX along the route. Can be useful.
Does United still let you listen to ATC on their entertainment system? Used to be channel 9 but I’ve not flown UA in quite some time.
I think if they have the built-in infotainment system, then yes. But my plane only had the wifi. I’m flying back home Friday, and I’ll check to see if it has live ATC.
Any updates on the Xbox front?
Thanks. Can you also enter it that way on the route page?
I suspect that given the current methodology of simbrief file export / import with the 737, that the EFB/tablet release could also be the thing that gates the XBox release. There’s no point in releasing a product that relies on simbrief exported flightplan & weather files for importing into the FMS on XBox which has no/restricted access to the filesystem. Hopefully with the EFB/universal tablet release (we’ve been waiting for long time) it will allow all the simbrief ops directly through it avoiding the simbrief export / local file import situation we currently use on the PC version. Just my guess as to why hoping for a premature 737 release on XBox may not necessarily be a good thing.
None robert did say he update us middle/end of this week
keep everything crossed its good news ![]()
Nope, not from what I tried. It’s considered a fix. Even though the flight plan may show it, it’s not actually a part of a route in the database because you could change to any possibility such as 302/77 302/150 301/55, etc… Which is why you need to create it and can only enter it into the legs page from my understanding.
