Will definitely depend on an individual airline’s SOP. At my company, we never change the configuration of those displays in any phase of operation: the upper DU is always the compact engine display, and the lower DU only ever displays hydraulic quantity and pressure. (On the NG; the Max methodology is different of course given the 4 large displays vs 6 smaller ones.)
Any update to PMDG being given access to an Xbox test build so they can test it and have it released on Xbox?
Also any info to their liveries being released? Why can Captain Sim get loads of liveries released at the same time as his planes but PMDG can’t?
Apparently PMDG says the delay is from Microsoft/Asobo as they have submitted the aircraft last week for testing and claim to not have yet heard anything… Hopefully should be out this or next week. Can’t agree more on liveries as i fly on Xbox and love the Atr but miss some decent ones and was hoping they would have been out quicker. i assume those developers that flooded the marketplace with products of lesser quality had submitted them a while back and they were top of the queue…
If you assign the view to the MMB it doesn’t let you zoom with a combination of MMB+Scroll. So I now I have it to zoom with RMB+Scroll.
It’s a bit annoying but it’s ok.
In our airplanes we don’t have the small version of the secondary parameters on the upper DU. Upper DU only shows large gauges and the lower DU can show secondary parameters or hydraulics. A single click of the eng button will blank the lower DU and nothing will show on the upper DU like in the PMDG, where you need to click ENG twice in order to hide all secondary parameters.
Our SOP is to always keep the lower DU blanked from the moment we start to taxi so that if any parameter exceeds a limit value the screen will pop up to grab our attention as some of these won’t trigger a master caution.
Still no word from pmdg as to whether the aircraft has now been put back to the testing environment by MS team for xbox users ![]()
Is there no way we can tag the marketplace team on this?
If only the freight room too was in this glorious complexity and high-polygon beauty! I feel like filth having only a boring puny handbrake lever between the seats in real-life
Hm is PMDG planning to bring a 777 cargo version too, and is a big visual V2-update of the freight room visuals (or cabin if someone prefers to fly this) for the 737 series planned some day?
I enjoy to look at perfectly structured and Tetris-like perfectly arranged cargo only illuminated by cold sterile neon tubes before take-off…
Higher quality cabin is listed as “future update” on the store page so yes, they plan to add it. Maybe this year, maybe next… You already paid for the product so be happy with what you have. I was told on this forum.
YESS!!! Wonderful.
And of course I am happy with the 737 and the Fenix
every day begins with worshipping them. Someone in a Discord channel even thought I was trying to start a Fenix cult.
And to be honest I had given up hope on that 737 because I thought these visual glitches will never get fixed but PMDG has finally done it. AWESOME!
This is a huge step closer to purest perfection.
To celebrate the new and enhanced PMDG737 my cockpit overhaul also got a few nice little updates today ![]()
Especially in the overhead panel (font position, font sizes), and the data selector panel and other details…
By the way I have a question for the real 737 pilots - is the turbine condition knob set to “continuous igniting” during strong rain?
What flight or weather conditions are necessary to use the continuous ignition setting?
You may find this story interesting GamingCat2130!
What glitches? I fly this plane almost every day and didn’t notice any.
Not all of the changes are real visual bugs, just enhancements based on real photos of 737 panels trying to make the 737 ultrarealistic.
And that fire extinguisher was just outright ugly and really had to be upgraded to a nicer texture.
But of course there are some nasty glitches, here are a few screenshots:
https://flightsim.to/file/38886/a-few-boeing-737-cockpit-bugfixes
It feels so good removing all these nasties from a cockpit, it feels like having some big nasty scratch all over the center console plus one of the fins of the heater vent vent broken… And finally getting a brand new spare part on eBay, and finding out in some car forum that the whole middle part is only mounted with four simple Philips screws and that it can be replaced in less than five minutes… ![]()
That feeling describes it best I think… (especially afterwards, when the magnum opus is finished).
Oh and I wanted a nice-looking throttle with almost no wear:
This nice new throttle can be added optional in the texture package.
And thank you very much for the rain story, was that the Glimli glider? I think I have seen this accident on one of these “Mayday” airplane crash investigation episodes. Continuous ignition seem to not help when the turbine is getting destroyed by ostrich egg sized hailstones inside a thunderstorm supercell.
Off the top of my head
Engine Start Switches to CONT:
-Take off and landing
-Whenever Engine Anti-Ice is being used to prevent problems with ice ingestion (Wing anti-ice doesn’t require it but if you’re using it chances are you’re also on engine anti-ice anyway)
-Moderate to heavy rain, hail or sleet
-Emergency Descent
-As commanded by QRH Checklists like the ones related to engine in flight starts (to regain parameter indication on the dead engine), Ice crystal icing, etc.
Some procedures use the FLT position instead of CONT (Windmilling inflight start, loss of thrust on both engines, Volcanic Ash QRH checklist and engine problems in icing conditions like "In flight icing removal procedure, High Engine Vibration QRH checklist when associated with icing formation, etc).
The difference between them is that in CONT the selected igniters (L or R) will operate in flight when the associated engine start lever is in the idle position but only if N2 is below idle.
In the FLT position BOTH igniters will operate in-flight simultaneously when the engine start lever is in idle no matter the N2 value.
Awesome, could very well be tonight then, if not next Thursday.
It seems that we will be very happy tonight. The Marketplace team: Simmers will be eternally grateful if it is available today!

Hello,
Simple question, I just bought the PMDG 737. I know the planes comes with a certain standard option package. But if you want to change the equiment settings, and then save them. How do I do that?
What I would like, is to set a certain equipment settings for a plane, and then that it is already there directly in the cold and dark state, when I load the plane. Is there a config file somewhere per plane?
If someone knows, please let me know.
Greetings,
Boudewijn
So assuming you want to like add the HUD or shades to a plane that doesn’t have it:
Look at your FMC then navigate:
Menu>
PMDG Settings (Right Soft Key 5 iirc)>
Equipment>
Edit settings as desired.
Settings are per plane per livery. So if you load the United Rhapsody Blue Livery and set your equipment options, they won’t persist to the Fedex Freighter (for example)
