PMDG 737 Discussion (PC Version) (Part 1)

Agree with everything you said. It feels like they are playing the simmers. Teasing with a release before the weekend, and then silence. Luckily they seem to be better in aircraft development for sims than in PR.

I’m pretty sure they are not playing with the simmers, purposely holding the release when its fully ready to go and just keep teasing with you great screenshots and videos.

As a beta tester on the team, all I can tell you is that we’re working hard to get her ready, and if its not out yet, despite how good or ready the general public thinks it is, then you can rest assured its not ready.
PMDG is one of the very few professional developers who will not put out a release until it is ready, no matter how much the pubic insists they do. “Ready” is a subjective term that every dev treats differently…and unlike some “Devs” who 1st release an external model of a 2 engine airliner linked to the default 4 engine model, then release an external model with no cockpit at all…PMDG will ensure you’re getting a 737 external model, a 737 cockpit, 737 flight dynamics, 737 avionics and much more than that other “dev” calls a complete product and thoroughly tested.

In the mean time…enjoy these screens of me and 2 of my fellow beta testers flying her in formation with my paintjobs…testing the multiplayer compatibility in MSFS

just to check on the discount - i have the follow purchased for P3D:

PMDG 737-600/700 NGX Expansion for Prepar3D

PMDG 737NGX Base Package for Prepar3D

but do these need to have been purchased during 2019 to qualify for any discount?

Apparently you had to have purchased a qualifying product during the window of the offer. If you qualify, it should show in your PMDG account page, per those on the PMDG forums who have been talking about it.

ok got it - qualifying period apparently a few months in 2019?

You had to buy the 737 NGXu to qualify for the discount. There was no discount buying the NGX version.

Nice pics!

I do want to believe you, but then they shouldn’t raise expectations when they can’t deliver on them.

The tease us with a potential release before the weekend, and then become silent. And that while they are about to release the most anticipated aircraft for this sim.

Your pictures actually make the whole thing worse, as we want to experience it ourselves

The issue with raised expectations (IMO) is that in the end, we should be managing our own expectations, and not fault the dev for providing previews that only serve to inform the public of what we know…at the time the statement/video etc was made. PMDG will not provide detailed info as to the internal things happening, even the beta testers are in the dark about some things as much as the general public is. We have one job and that job does not need some of the info you’d expect when you understand the specific role of a beta tester.
Anyway…I know this is killin’ you guys as I’ve been on the other side in the past before I was invited to join the beta team. I know the anticipation is is mind numbing at times, and the only thing I can offer to help is the assurance that this will be the best commercial 737 on the market, it flies and looks just as good as you’ve seen in the many streams and screenshots, and I’ll admit that while I’m not supposed to be having fun beta testing…when we got a few of us together to test the multiplayer…all of on the discord channel chatting to set up the formation for the screenshots seemed as giddy as little school girls, LOL.
We are testing her thoroughly to make sure when you do get her…you won’t be coming to the support forums asking why your 2 engine Boeing 777 has 4 engines on the ECIAS, is as heavy as a 747, and coincidentally flies exactly like one.
“Some” Devs seem to put out software that never touched a beta tester’s system, was riddled with bugs and just plain (or is is plane? hehe) wrong. Thankfully PMDG is not one of those Devs, and when they release both their 777 and 747 for MSFS, rest assured you won’t be flying a 777 with 747 systems!

And just because I’m evil:

I’ll preface this and say I’m not at all disagreeing with you, but there is another side of the fence… and that side of the fence is slowly getting more vocal because each week there is a tone that implies an imminent release. Nothing against any of the testers, but the reality is it’s easier for someone who is testing the product to be less eager for the launch when the product has been in your hands for weeks, months, or longer. While there haven’t been any promises, each week things are implied that stir the masses up. Intended or not, that’s why we are seeing such vocal people.

It does look good though and I’m not at all blaming rob or anyone at PMDG. Just trying to see it from BOTH sides.

You hit the nail on the head. I have been scrolling through this thread along with the PMDG forums at least five to six times a day

I understand what you’re saying and you’re certainly right. Have bought 5 past products of PMDG so I know they are awesome (back than regarding the FS9 stuff lol). But the PR is like the worst I’ve ever seen. How many times are they going to put up a date or a teaser till it will be released? “It will come this year (after summer 2021)”, “it will be a nice Christmas present, we are really close”, “only two more things holding us back”, “we hope to have it ready for you before next weekend”and than the next message is again a teaser with zero info regarding the last “it will come before Christmas” message or whatsoever.

PMDG makes awesome products and I’ll buy the 737 instant but their PR guy is the worst I’ve ever witnessed in any industry

I see where you’re coming from to a degree, but implying that a product may be released, and actually saying when it’ll be released are very different. Implication in this case is going to be a relative thing, as in an individual may think PMDG is implying it. I personally haven’t seen that from them. As far as I can tell it’s largely people being incapable of managing their own expectations, getting their knickers in a twist, instead of just exercising patience.

My two cents, anyway.

They literally said last weekend that they were hoping to release it before this weekend  Of course, nothing in stone yet, but with their reputation, expectations are created with such statements.

Fair point, but it’s not an implication as it says that it would depend on certain factors. I would personally err on the side of caution and would have expected nothing but people interpret things in different ways.

Sure - I don’t disagree. They are completely different. I think just seeing it from both sides helps everyone understand. The reality here is this is huge for our hobby. In my opinion, this is the largest announcement of the sim since the sim launched. If anything, I enjoy seeing the enthusiasm and I’m sure PMDG does too… because let’s face it, this hype only validates the money they’re about to make. At the end of the day, the weekend hasn’t come and gone yet, so anyone feeling depressed should probably hold off hahaha. Let’s wait until next Monday to meet up with the pitch forks (kidding hahaha).

Asobo is going to release a hotfix for the issues with SU9 in the upcomming weeks. No way PMDG is going to release their plane before making sure it runs without issues on this new build

The patch for SU9 seems hotfix only for issue „Flickering Reflections on Windshield Cockpit Windows“ that XBox users and some PC users with Render Scale other than 100. Why should PMDG use this hotfix as a reason for another delay, instead of other issues like Flap 40, missing WX features…?

Might as well wait until SU10, then SU11, and so on, right? I think at this point delaying for patches is unnecessary as they’re going to continue rolling out. No sense in delaying something indefinitely for that.
