Hats off to the everyone at PMDG for your hard work and elevating what is thought possible within FS, and to Asobo and MS for laying the foundation making it all possible.
I never imagined flying a complex aircraft like the PMDG 737 with such stunning visuals all while maintaining smooth near constant 60fps performance.
Cant comprehend how this all came together but boy am i enjoying it now and will continue to do so into the distant future, cant wait to see what comes next.
So the PMDG 737 is finally out and I can relive my days of flying it in P3D. I’m not a pilot nor am I trying to fly the plane exactly as a real world pilot would, I’ll just preface with that.
It’s bee a while since P3D but from what I remember I used to fly the 737 using manual auto-pilot inputs (adjusting heading and altitude based on ATC commands) and then when I was close to my destination I would look up the ILS info for the runway I was landing on, I would find the heading and adjust my left and right course to that heading and I would find the radio frequency to tune (forget what this is called, the glideslope frequency?) and plug that into my left and right NAV radios and change it to the active channel.
Then I would hit the VOR LOC button and wait for the plan to capture the localizer. Once the localizer was captured I’d hit the APP button and it would capture the glideslope. Then as the runway got closer and in sight I would disengage the autopilot and handfly it the rest of the way in.
I just tried this for the first time in MSFS with the PMDG 737 and it doesn’t seem to work quite as I remember. I can get the plane to capture the localizer, but cannot get it to capture the glideslope.
I found a chart for the airport and runway here and saw the heading was 275 and freq 110.90. I input these values into my airplane and began my approach.
I capture the localizer just fine, but never was able to get the glideslope. I would hit the APP button and nothing would happen.
Any ideas what I’m doing wrong here? Thanks for any advice
If it hasn’t been said yet and you are experiencing Authentication errors/issues on Microsoft Edge Browser, switch to Firefox and disable pop-up blockers then you should go right through. The servers appear to be under good normal loads right now.
EDIT: Oh, it’s out! Time to stop endlessly debating pricing and start trying to find substandard textures under exit row passenger seats or on the back side of wheel well tubing that we can complain are ruining our sim experience!
EDIT EDIT: Y’all killed the servers. Not surprised! Probably best to just wait till tomorrow to buy it, but I can understand not wanting to do that.
Yep. They’ll get huge sales at release due to the pent-up demand, but I wonder if they’ll see a slowdown as some of us (like you and me) wait for the 800, or if some don’t buy further variants.
My guess is the 700 will do well, and the 800 because it’s the 800, but the 600 and 900 are gonna be niche products. But the cost to produce additional variants is a fraction of the initial system building for the 700, so PMDG will do fine in the end.
Ideally I’d love to have seen a base license of $69/75 with the variant of your choice, and $30 for each additional variant. But that ain’t gonna work if they’re selling on Marketplace because MP’s ownership/discount support isn’t that smart.
Agreed, but I think PDMG likely wants to limit the market to some degree, because imagine providing tech support to all those people who bought the Bredok3D 737 and thought that it was just fine. Trying to point every one of them to videos on how to program a realistic FMC.
But yeah, these folks all built their businesses in the FSX/P3D market, and they don’t understand mainstream game add-on pricing and the size of the market they’re excluding with their dated pricing models.
Not to tease People who cant get it, But I have to say this thing is just beyond amazing. I have had lots of practice with the ZIBO (No Comparisons please, I am just talking about flying and practicing in a 737) and this thing just absolutely bakes the cake and all the buns.
FPS are amazing, Settings are amazing, it was dream to land at KLAS (I am struggling with my new yoke) but it was just lovely, the Flight model seems amazing, what an amazing inaugural flight I just had. It was really choppy coming in to KLAS and it handled it perfect.
100% Perfect:
LNAV & VNAV
ILS was Spot on
ILS Capture as I expected
Speeds and Constraints on the SID & STAR all perfect.
It even worked out a kink in my flight plan and by passed a dud waypoint… I got to get into all of it tomorrow.
Volanta Stats,
Yes I know about the call sign / Tail number, I was too excited to input the correct info. Big gust on landing gave me an excessive speed,. but it wasn’t too bad
60 min ago. It was quite a pleasant surprised that and able to download/installed//activated quite smoothly.
First time spawned at runway only took 15minutes not as long as the MD82.
Flew the 737 few laps arround sydney airport.
Hopefully the server is truely back online and everyone able to download it.
Same here, just worked a 12 hour day. Fully expected to pick this up tonight and at least have a look. Guess all the folks that said they were waiting for the 800, bought it after all… PMDG must be pretty happy with the sales, before the store broke.
Is anyone else having an issue where the rudder won’t stay activated? I use a gamepad and the rudder is mapped to my trigger axis. When I hold down the trigger normally the rudder would stay in it’s extended position, but on the 737 it just fully extends and immediately retracts even if I stay holding the trigger.
I downloaded it and everything but can’t get past the activation key step. Where on earth do I find that. In the email I only received a Licence code and and order ID but nothing that says Activation key. At the top of that email, it says the activation key’s are listed below but there is nothing there. Does anyone have any idea where to find the code?
The key should be in the initial email you received from PMDG (the one with the download link) as well as your Orders page on their store website. If it’s not appearing in the body of the first email they sent you, it’s possible your email program or ISP is blocking some contents of the message or not displaying all contents for some reason.
All - I was going to get it, even though MSFS off PC while moving, and awaiting my Monster Tech Flight Chair, but the site says Unavailable. Guess will check back later on and see if it’s working, must be server overload, with all the folks buying it. The 700 model has three variants, cargo, business config, and passenger config.
I bought the PMDG 737 and downloaded it. I am trying to complete the install and am at the stage where I have to enter the activation key. I am extremely confused because I was never given one despite it saying that I should get one in the confirmation email. I also am unable to find one anywhere in my PMDG account on their website. Does anyone know where I can find this key so I can proceed with the download?
