When configuring EFB, you must click save settings at the bottom of the options page.
In fact, the Simulator freezes, but I believe this is part of the process of reading and loading the flight plan and the information that is imported from Simbrief. It doesn’t bother me and doesn’t get in the way of anything else after loading the flight plan. So the effect is normal.
