PMDG 737 Discussion (Xbox Series S|X version)

I really don’t know why they just didn’t wait and release it as a complete package. Paying more than PC owners for the same product doesn’t sit well with me.

I really hope they don’t follow Captain Sim’s lead and charge $5 each time they release 4 liveries! Will be somewhat more palatable if the entire set is $5…

JF’s 146 is the same price… with tons of paint jobs!

you should really head to the pmdg forums because this has been discussed in quite some detail. They’ve clearly mentioned that asobo won’t let them list the livery package on the marketplace for free so they have to charge the minimum amount and for that reason, it will come as a separate package to the plane itself.

It’s amazing on the Series X. Loaded into DD KRNT, no stutters, no ctd. Did a temp test and on my short flight from KRNT to KBFI, it ran 10* cooler than the LVFR A32x products. I’m blown away.

Can’t wait to see all my fellow new captains in the air!

So, um… how come everyone else can manage it?

Umm because atr was partly released by asobo and maybe pmdg has a different method in place for livery installation

I wasn’t exclusively referring to the ATR. LVFR, Just Flight, Azurpoly… all with liveries. Sorry, but £59 / $69 for a plane with one livery is a bit steep, no matter how good it is.

The complexity and depth of system simulation for the PMDG rendition of the 737 is much greater than pretty much anything else available on XBox. Adding the full livery package (avaible on PC as optional installation through the PMDG Operations Center) would blow way past the package size limitations through the Marketplace. This isn’t some mystery - PMDG has been talking about it for probably a month to prep people what to expect.

You’re free to disagree and not purchase - but you’re missing out on provably the best airliner available on XBox as a result.

Nobody is forcing you to buy it. I will say that it’s fantastic, and I’m hard to please when it comes to model quality. The price is hard to swallow, but it’s now the best airliner on Xbox…and I’m an A310 fan boy.

I will be purchasing it regardless. The cynic in me, however, isn’t convinced that the liveries were impossible to include. But I’m no expert in such matters. I just thought that, if JF managed it with their latest complex offering, PMDG ought to have been able to, too.

I am curious, though… are there APU exhaust effects as this is something I’ve not yet seen?

The guys at PMDG said they separated them out because they know some people want liveries and others do not. They asked Asobo/MS if they can put them in the marketplace for free and were denied. They asked about different prices for PC and XBox and that’s not available.

So they tried and the best they could do was release them at the minimum marketplace price. The good news is it will be one package and they will update it with more liveries as they go along. So you pay the $5 and won’t have to pay anymore.

Frustrating for all parties, but at least they gave us transparency into why it’s going to be the way that it is in the marketplace.

Yes, the transparency is at least commendable. I’m not averse to paying an additional $5 if the liveries are plentiful and periodically increased in number. Just a bit disappointed there were none upon release.

I’m eager to get some liveries with it too. Would it kill Microsoft to just put the liveries in the marketplace for free? Seems scummy to insist that there’s a price tag on something that PMDG wants to include for free. Otherwise, I love the addon so far.

Thanks Blizzard. Yet another bank holiday where the gardening will get put back I guess. I’m already making excuses.

To get not one but two very good aircraft on the same day is going to be very expensive!!

So, what’s the best tutorials for a 737 noob? I don’t even know how to input a flight, I understand SimBrief doesn’t work but I guess I can still use the data and input it myself (once I know how)…?

This whole playlist is a good one, and it won’t make your brain explode even if you’re new.

Well purchased both 737 & 146.Every time I try the 737 it ctd or get black screens… Xbox s… Tried in xbox x as well, still the same… I think it’s not ready for xbox yet… 146 is fine.

XSX, no issues with the 737-800. Took off from Manchester and did a circuit and landed very badly. I set nothing up, literally just took off, got to 3000ft and came back down.

Beautiful aircraft.

Good to hear some some positive feedback from you lot flying it.

I did say I wouldn’t buy it this week, but I might not be able to resist if I keep reading this thread.

I take it this aircraft doesn’t use the world map planner?
