PMDG 737 Discussion (Xbox Series S|X version)

I don’t think the issue for many is having to pay, but the way it’s morphed into a Captain Sim-like affair with several random packs. I wouldn’t mind paying £5 for the entire hangar - I only really want Ryanair, Virgin Oz, Qantas and Gol for my 738 but, as it stands, that’s already three packs minimum I’d have to buy. Almost £15 for four liveries is ridiculous!

I’m with ya, Team Apple here as well. And very reluctant to get into the world of video card driver tuning and FPS chasing. It’s nice when it “just works”.

I don’t get the file size thing. Look at the sale right now, 2Pilot is selling a bundle of 135 Liveries for the A320 for $4. 4Simmers did the same thing where they’re seeing 100+ liveries too for $5.

Is there something special about the 737 vs the A320 where bundling the liveries is going to be ‘too big’ of a file size?

update - just checked 4simmers bundle megapack of worldwide liveries around 150 and it’s 900mb only. 2Pilot is 1.45GB.

Is the HUD modelled in this aircraft?

No it is not.

Well someone had to pay for all those free liveries that the PC version received. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
So far I’m not buying liveries.

Someone needs to ask microsoft in one off their q&a things what is going on with this. Like just straight up: “can i release a payware aircraft on the marketplace for pc and Xbox and then have extra marketplace packages with liveries that are free?”

It’s a wee bit faffy to find it, you have to go into a menu on the fmc, but it’s there

Hi there,

Reading the livery comments with interest, also would have liked my airline to have been available but definitely not a deal breaker, probably won’t download any liveries for now.
Also, regarding the airline configurations not being included with a livery: in real life we often have to deal with leased aircraft or interchange aircraft that have varying configurations as far as FMC options, copilot tillers, shortfield packages, engine ratings, brake options, radio panels, evac switches, cockpit security cameras, etc, etc…so really not as big a deal as many might think. Anyway, just a 737 pilot’s opinion.

Have fun with your planes, everybody :+1:

p.s. remember flying with a HUD in a 737 for the first time, definitely did not push in loads of collared circuitbreakers to get it working :grimacing::wink:

First flight in the -700 flying the new United colors in the first pack for the -700 was 98% successful and certainly as routine for the Series X. While I do like the PMDG color scheme, having something nice and familiar to see outside is a nice to have. KSTL to Dz’s KEWR (no idea if this is an authentic UA itinerary LOL) both add ons, plus live weather without traffic. Made it all the way to the gate and well into the secure aircraft checklist before the CTD. While the flight didn’t make it to the logbook, it was nevertheless successful for flight simulation and GREAT FLYING FUN. Yes folks, this airliner is a BLAST to fly if airliners are your cup of tea.

Incidentally what was the 2% that failed?

Xbox also has pretty large technical and performance limitations, so stuff like this just reduces the value proposition of console further. Ultimately I and others are just consumers and our work and livelihoods are not dependent at all on the success of console or the marketplace.

That’s really the perspective that should matter when MS and devs choose to do stuff like nickel and dime people over some liveries that are free on PC.

Hi there!

Does anyone have a quick fix keybind to toggle “Full Reverse” or “Second Detent Reverse”? Right now I’ve assigned a button on top of the HOTAS stick as a “press and hold” to deploy the reverser doors but that still requires selecting FORWARD thrustlever movement to increase RPM…which is “dangerously” incorrect.

Also: does the RTO brake setting work? It doesn’t seem to activate if I close the thrustlevers above 90knots, the plane doesn’t appear to decelerate drastically…it kind of seems to work if I activate reverse thrust but RTO should practically have you hanging in your seatbelts, not sure if it’s doing that

Interestingly doing an RTO (with reverse selected) and then immediately taking off led to a wheelwell fire warning which is a nice touch…so the brakes appear to be engaging.

Thanks

Edited for clarity😬

Found it. It’s under Comair Limited in case anyone else isn’t paying attention!

At what point when landing should I disengage the AP and AT? I’ve just crashed at KFLL. I disengage the AP and took control all good, then when I turned the AT off, the throttles were at 0 so descended like a brick I couldn’t apply the power quick enough and hit trees.

Can I keep the AT engage all the way down or do I need to turn it off at a certain point?

You can keep it on just select your lowest landing speed

Thank you, that’s good to know.

Match the throttle
Position to the applied thrust before disengaging! You have learned a valuable lesson there! I tend to disengage at about 4 miles.
