PMDG 737 Discussion (Xbox Series S|X version)

Yes basically anything with boxes in FMS needs to have content filled out, otherwise FMS won’t work well and VNAV highly likely won’t work.

Ryanair is one of the many liveries that come with pmdg liveries for the -800. The livery pack when it arrives will be more than sufficient for most people’s needs. I don’t actually download many 3rd party liveries for the 737, as there is no need.
Also worth noting that liveries are complex in that they are all related to certain modifications of the base 737-800. Eg winglets + other internal optional equipment etc. It’s quite a bit more complex than just a paintjob.

It should slow down fine, but late if you leave it on auto. You can also use a speed intervention to manually slow down earlier. I do this quite a bit on approach.

@BragRaindrop933 When you say leave it on auto are you referring to VNAV speed control?

Not sure about xbox, but on PC the 700 came out first, then 800 much later then the 600 came out (at a great price!) followed by the 900.
If anyone is wanting a cheaper way to experience the 737, then wait for the 600 to come out (it’s not out onin sim PC marketplace yet though). Essentially the same 737 experience (minus cargo variants) at a much lower entry price point. I have the 700 (early adopter, but don’t use it much now) and the 800 which I fly all the time.
Very little point in owning all of them as it’s just lenghts, weights and takeoff / landing speeds that differ. Essentially the same 737 cockpit experience for all of them though.

The speed dial on the upper AP front panel should have a button next to it that says spd intv or similar. Much like the altitude dial has alt intv (which you should all be using to initiate your climbs and descents with in VNAV).

@BragRaindrop933 Got it I didn’t know that’s how you switched to manual speed control. Good to know. So are you saying the plane won’t follow speed restrictions in flight plan?

VNAV will follow speed restrictions in FMS FP, but I find that the aircraft slows down late for me. So I usually prefer to manually slow it down before final so I’m at 185kts or so. I don’t use auto speed on final at all. Auto throttle yes, I just like to be in manual control(spd intv) of the target value on final right the way down to landing. Not saying you definitely have to do this, but I find it’s easier to control the aircraft speed ahead of landing.

I am on xBox x.
I have an issue that during takeoff or cruise suddenly the engines switches off and the gear goes down.

Mainly it happens on complex aircraft’s like latinvfr A319, Inibuilds A310 and PMDG 738-800

Can someone help please.

I love the pmdg but i have the issue that suddenly during flight ( takeoff or cruise ) the engines switches off and the gear goes down.
At this moment the aircraft is out of my control.
Anyone can help ?

Been using it for a few hours and by no means tested much but it’s smooth and no CTD. In fact no issues at all - even worked with my honeycombe set Alpha and Bravo with no issues re key assignments. I’ve used at some 3rd party airports so far - Aldegrove is always stable. It’s fantastic to see this work of art in XBox there’s a lot to learn but so far I’m blown away. XBox X

More than likely you will have some bind on your yoke or throttle

You probably speak for most of them at least, but as far as I’m concerned it wasn’t the 737 which excited me, but the BAe 146 which dropped into the Marketplace at the same time! Definitely a good day for XBox pilots as far as high fidelity aircraft are concerned.

Love this bird. Does anybody know how to get the manuals?

You’re probably going to have to search the Internet for any sort of documentation.

PMDG isn’t allowed to distribute manuals per a legal agreement with Boeing.

PMDG do have a few videos to explain their specialized functionality within the FMC for aircraft and sim configuration/interaction.

There seems to be a bug with the PDMG 737 800 series. Whenever I load the plane in cold and dark panel state ATC is still turned on (not in the plane but in the SIM). I can hear ATC chatter even though there is no equipment powered up - I can even request ATC tuning/ Departures as normal.

This seems to be limited to the new PDMG 737 800 planes - the BAE147 is fine (ATC shows ‘Radio Off’ correctly). I’m in the MSFS beta so it could be that - I’ll leave the beta and retry tomorrow.

Is it true that the nav data is out dated on this aircraft?

It looks that way. I’m guessing that the forthcoming EFB Simbrief integration will give us up to date FMC charts?

What do you mean the double A button presses? Does this suffer from the same issue the A310 had at launch where you had to hit A twice to import letters/numbers into the FMC?
