Let me start by praising PMDG for delivering an incredible airliner for Xbox. I love flying this every minute. Despite this I feel that they have suddenly turned us console simmers into cash cows. While on pc they included liveries for free they announced that they would not be able to do so on Xbox and repeatedly told us they would find a solution to let us have liveries at as good a price as they would be allowed on Marketplace. Well…we have liveries that cost 5 euros and come out once a month in well marketed small bundles with duplicates of same airlines repeatedly included which is hardly what we need on Xbox….I would rather have one Alaskan airlines and one Ryanair and use that so claimed limitations on how much they can include in a bundle used much more wisely to give us at least 10 new airlines per pack. Can’t help but feel let down by this. Anything suggesting this on their forum is shutdown and closed as not allowed in their policy. Is this really the way to go after I am sure a very successful launch of their expensive products on xbox?
I’m on PC but had the same thought when I saw the marketplace update. I don’t think it’s fair and really looks like they trying to milk the Xbox crowd.
I can’t think of a logical reason other than maybe there is some restriction in package size/number of files so that they had to split it? Seems far fetched, though.
I understand limitation on file size and can put up with having to pay for a package of nice liveries but if you can put only 10 liveries in a package why not at least putting a good selection of them rather than this drip drop every few weeks with lots of duplicates which to us are useless? Definitely can’t help but feel that they saw an opportunity for a money grab and they took it while they had always claimed to offer us plenty of liveries at the lowest price they could…
And wont add any that the community ask for like jet2 and tui
Easy answer to the situation is to not buy their products, by paying extra you’re just encouraging them to carry on milking you for money.
Easily said than done when you know that you are never going to get another developer produce PMDG 737 liveries… Unless something has changed they used to not allow anybody to produce deliveries for the aircraft unless free of charge…which in Marketplace is not allowed so we are back to square one. I am sure not going to splurge all my money on their stingy packs but I felt I had no choice to get 2 in order to have some liveries to fly with…In the future of course they might sell these off but why should we on XBOX wait for months when they could and said they would do everything to give us plenty of liveries at as cheap a price as they could?
Just don’t buy the aircraft in the first place, hit them in their pocket where it hurts!
When they screwed up the initial release of the DC6 on Xbox, they assured everyone that once the issue was fixed the price would be dropped back down to the “special launch price”… Over a year later, they finally got the issue resolved but conveniently forgot to honour their promise of the discount. Now they’re saying they can’t issue liveries for the aircraft, but will charge you for the privilege of downloading liveries in multiple packs, thereby increasing their earnings with each pitiful release.
Their products may be well above the standard of Captain Sim, but their business practices are strangely similar… I wouldn’t touch their products with a bargepole.
I would also like to leave my comment here about this. Yes, as the author of the topic said, fantastic aircraft on the console. But I think I could offer the liveries volumes with 10 different companies and leave the final volumes for the repeats, which are sometimes the same companies with small details. I think the initial volumes should come with liveries from 10 different companies and the final volumes for the repeats or retro.
