This isn’t the case all the time. Seems like on short hops say <250 miles it is the case where SID and STAR are close together and very short cruise. World map then seems to do a recalc or rejig when you change start to the gate.
On longer flights where SID and STAR are more spaced out with a longer cruise distance I have never seen the flightplan altered by the world map when picking a gate.
