This is the first time i encounter this. Speed Control works but i can hit AP as often as i like it wont engage. Checking the Stick says its perfectly calibrated and checking the list i did not forget anything. So now i dont know what to do?
The Yaw Damper always switch back to off. Probably a hydraulic problem?
No The Yaw Damper now remains in position. I am clueless.
The plane has a very strong tendency to go down.
I checked controllers but Master Caution says “Flt Cont”. That makes no sense.
XBOX X
I have had this exact problem , though occasionally the AP will engage.I read a couple of days ago that the AP won’t engage unless the aircraft is very stable on the climbout and exactly within the FD crosshairs ,planning to test it again today.
I had this never before. Just engage and everything is fine. Now i suspect the livery. Sometimes they cause trouble. But i dont see how a livery can prevent from engaging AP.
And the Yaw Damper now jumps back to off again.
I only use the stock PMDG livery so that is not the cause for me.It could also be something I screwed up in entering the SID/ flightplan that caused mine.
OK then its not the livery. But the flight plan should not be the problem. Then LNAV would not work out.
Just remembered that apparently you can turn off ’ Realistic AP Engagement’ in the Menu so I will try that in my case ,you won’t want to do that though as the AP worked previously for you.
Which Menu exactly?
The FMC menu button supposedly has this option I believe,I am on Xbox( I mentioned this on my first reply) maybe its different on pc ?
The FMC Menu should be same in both. I just looked into it and could not find an option to turn off realistic AP engagement.
Could a livery also destroy the AP?
Does anyone using the 737 knows something about this?
"OMG tell me you discovered the answer to this mystery that also happened to me a few days ago: you need to service the hydraulics and engine oil! Go to Ground Maintenance and hit the Service button and in a few seconds these issues will resolve! "
The problem is i am on air and i never hit this service button before. Why did it now cause such a hassle?
That was the solution in my case indeed. I need to land in Hasimara and fix it while on ground and could then depart to Paro finally. Now the passengers are deboarding and i am happy that this problem could be fixed. For now and the future i will check this always additionally as long as i am on ground.
This is not the solution any longer. I did made service shortly before taxi and the AP did not react again. Its broken!
Hi,
Are your IRS units aligned? Without aligned IRS your autopilot, PFD (Primary Flight Display), ND (Navigation Display), yaw damper and several other important functions will not work. They all depend on position information from the IRS. Make sure that the aircraft does not move during IRS alignment. (Aircraft on the ground with parking brake set)
Here is a short video on how to align the IRS on the 737:
