PMDG Boeing 777 status

Well, that was a wasted flight, just had my first WASM crash in the 777. :sob:

With the Ini A300F also having WASM crashes, that doesn’t leave many FedEx options other than the MD-11. I guess I’ll be parking these WASM based aircraft for now….

How long your flight last? I did one over 3 hours with no WASM crash.

I’ve flown lots of flights with the 777 and this is the first WASM crash I’ve had while flying, I was about 3 hours in to a 4 hour flight. Not sure if this was just bad luck or an SU5 related issue?

PMDG/Inibuilds/Asobo really need to get to the bottom of this, I’ve got a high end system and the WASM issues with some aircraft are infuriating.

Experienced my first WASM crash with a PMDG product in MSFS 2024 only a few weeks ago.

Flying the B777-300ER Hong Kong to London 7hrs 8mins into the trip all the displays turned orange and displayed WASM Module crashed. The incident seemed to occur after the third “Step Climb” that was set to “Automatic Step Climbs”. Step climb was from FL340 to FL360.

Currently running the latest version of the B777 being 2.04.138. I was flying Cathay Pacific with a third party livery from verified creator and have flown the livery many times before with no issue.

Programs running in the background Steam, Volanta, Vpilot (Vatsim), SimAppPro (WinWing)

Restarted the Simulator in Baku as the WASM crash around Azerbaijan. Upon restarting on the ground with the same aircraft. It out of no where spawned me back into the air and into the ground before restarting flight and everything returning to normal.

I reported all of this to the official PMDG support and they claimed the WASM was likely linked to the Boris Audio Works 777 sound pack and told me to uninstall.

I have had 50 plus flight with the sound pack before without issue. Boris Audio Works also confirmed that his product has absolutely no impact or anything to do with WASM crashes.

A week later Robert from PMDG put out a post on the forum saying they have an issue with WASM crashes. Seems from the post above that it is still occurring unfortunately.

Thanks for sharing that. IIRC the 737s have had an update that fixes some WASM crashes, I don’t think this has made it to the 777 yet, or whether it would fix these particular instances. I guess we will have to wait and see, but for now I’m gonna switch to the MD-11, I think.

Air Manager panels for the 777 now released.

I am still struggling with the caution warning which I cannot reset. No Autoland came up. I am not the ground, engines tunning and haven’t even departed yet. Message comes up to check non-normal checklist but nothing there really to check. Plane seems to be configured for taxi but caution stays on. When I reset the annunciation panel all is clear - no orange messages but caution is on. Any ideas?

Have you checked outside if the doors are all closed?

Yes. They are all closed and armed

T/O checks, you know on the console not EFB

You mean talke off speeds and derate? I done that on FMC

I’m begining to think it’s a bug. (I know that’s unlikely)

I would like to see the actual checklist but PMDG online manuals are really not great

I would raise it on their forum/discord.
Seems odd though not many are identifying it. Could there be a livery or GSX causing it?

You have started engines and shut down your APU, but your ADIRUS are not yet aligned - that could produce several problems.

I have GSX hut haven’t used it in this instance. I’ll try with PMDG livery

I don’t think I’ve done that but not 100% sure. Will test it

I strongly suggest following the Tutorial, as your aircraft is just not correctly configured: PMDG 777 Tutorial Flight

It’s not a livery, those are unable to affect the systems of the aircraft.

I watched A330 driver toutorials first to last. Twice. Maybe I missed something

As I said, use the tutorials; I created them to help you prevent these issues. Way easier to follow than a video guide. The manual even includes links to the correct videos, per procedure.

First T7 (772 RR) flight in SU5. Wow, so nice! It’s like coming home after a few early access flights in another airliner model. And nothing like having things under fingertips with Winctrl onboard!
