PMDG Boeing 777 status

well, I guess we’ll find out soon enough…

PMDG are Vegas based right? So expect a release in the evening European time.

Funny you should say that. Robert posted this on the PMDG forums about 5 hours ago:

How did you find all these infos?

As much as I love what I’ve seen of the new PMDG 777, if the nav data can’t be updated on Xbox, I’m not buying it until the nav data can be updated. No nav data updates, no purchase.

Hope I’m not wrong but,

with last little sim update, also sim NAV data? Really sry if not but something stays inside my brain so then it has then updated data. Or?

Well, realistically if you’re looking to fly exclusively on XBox, you won’t have to worry about the 777 for a while. PC Marketplace won’t be getting the plane for at least a few weeks and PMDG hasn’t even started testing XBox compatibility, though it principle it should be compatible since they’ve incorporated all the lessons learned from the 737 and DC-6 XBox releases. But it’s something to think about in a few months, most likely. Maybe by then Navigraph will have a working XBox navdata solution. Or whatever Working Title comes up for navdata in their new MSFS2024 Flight Planner tool.

The AIRACS are not updated on PMDG aircraft with sim nav data updates. They run off Navigraph hub updates. They ship with a single older AIRAC cycle.

Will default sim navdata ever be usable on PMDG though even is it were a new sub type thing in FS2024 for example. I though they were aligned with Navigraph or could they theoretically support the use of a diiferent nav database?

aaaaaaaah ok.

Yes, I have Navigraph an see there my 737-700 update in this case as PC user.

Navigraph came up with a solution to get nav data updates on PMDG planes that embed Navigraph nav data on Xbox (using WASM I believe), something that fit the SDK and did not violate the Xbox security… but it was left up to PMDG to implement it. PMDG said they were focussed on the 777 and would re-visit the issue of getting the specialized Navigraph/PMDG nav data updates on to Xbox in the future.

I’m so looking forward to my favorite aircraft 777 but the stutters on approach and landing at airports in the sim is not making me look forward to it. I want a smooth approach and landing.

Yeah I don’t know. There’s a LOT we don’t know about MSFS2024 and what the WT Flight Planner will be capable of doing - or not doing - in the case of third party aircraft. But I do know Navigraph has been working on a way to support nav data updates on XBox. I just don’t know how far along it might be.

However, that’s irrelevant to the 777 at the moment, since it is currently a PC-only release.

I believe PMDG uses Navigraph nav data exclusively, and does not use the nav data (Nav Blue) available to developers in the sim. That might change in the future, but my understanding is it requires massive changes in coding. There was discussion of moving to a nav data format that would make translating source data easier (thus the ability to choose between nav data sources) but that also likely takes years of coding changes. Just a guess.

guys higly reccomend this scenery to kick of your flights on the pmdg 777

That’s a great scenery for sure. My PMDG 777-300 should be parked there at the Boeing Delivery Center tonight!
