PMDG Boeing 777 status

I see the impending (tonight) update mentions “performance”, music to my ears.

I knew it, @Fragman444 was secretly @GamingCat2130.

Back to the 777, well, that was one of the smoothest touchdowns I’ve ever done. Genuinely shocked. But… What on earth is this parking brake??? It’s caused me no end of issues.

Back to reading the manual for 450 days…

Parking brake acts weirdly. even in ‘simple’ mode. It can be set and doesn’t show as set on the display. It requires toe brakes to enable/disable, but the messages don’t seem to keep up in the center display. The brake lever can also be down and the brakes still on sometimes with no message saying they are still on and sometimes with a message saying they are. It seems like a mess tbh. especially given it’s supposed to be ‘simple’ mode.

Thanks for the heads up. :+1: I remember something similar in the early days of the 737. I was also disappointed that the pushback feature had been removed, I don’t fancy buying the Aerosoft pushback tool. Hopefully they decide to add that back in at some point.

GSX works fine for pushback if you have it. But yes a backup plan for users without gsx would probably not be amiss.

I think the current solution is to put the brakes in “Realistic” mode, as the “simple” mode is buggy (but might be fixed in tonight’s release?).

Best thing to do is sit on a taxiway and get “muscle memory” of the engage/release brake sequences. (and hope the message system is showing the correct state)

Re: pushback, the marketplace/paid Aerosoft Pushback Toolbar does not work properly with this plane at this time, so don’t buy it. More precisely, it’s extremely slow, and the plane rapidly stutters as it moves back. This applies to both manual and planned pushbacks. I’m guessing it’s an incompatibility with the aforementioned brakes. Hopefully this gets addressed by one or both sides. And wider than that, the Aerosoft Pushback Tool seems to have issues with SU15 with turning larger/heavy planes in erratic circles when doing planned pushbacks…manual works fine, I believe.

I am late to this party so apologies, but want to know is the World Map useable for flight planning or is Simbrief required?
Thanks.

Simbrief.
You can import simbrief to world map to get ATC if you want it. It’s same as the 737.

Not sure if this is your situation, but if there’s insufficient brake pressure it will not actually be set. The parking brake is only set if the EICAS says so, the lever being up doesn’t mean it is truly set. If you run low on pressure, you can switch on the rightmost aux hydraulic pump. Again, maybe unrelated to what you had happen but thought I’d mention it.

World Map won’t calculate required fuel for the trip. Use simbrief for better flight plan.

Thanks, I do my own fuel planning, i.e. I put on plenty. : )

Is this fire on the gear a brake feature?

Useful to know. Thank you. It may just be me, but on simple mode i was expecting it to be simple. I’ll give realistic a go.

What I’m seeing though is parking brakes off on eicas (so this should mean they are off going by what you are saying), but the aircraft won’t taxi. I have to then go though the exercise of setting the parking brakes again by using the toe brakes and parking brakes, then releasing them by just using the toe brakes. It seems like there is an error state or something. Maybe it is hydraulic pressure thing, but with brakes in simple mode? (Which incidentally is what the 777 ships with set). You actually have to go in and change it to realistic mode.
I’ll see if anything has changed when this patch releases tonight.

That’s not fire, it’s hot brakes. Check the tablet for the status of your brakes and tires after that landing and see if they ought to be replaced.

Especially someone like me who travels round airports, draggs this bird around airports at like 20 knts

Update is live on the ops centre. :+1:

FANTASTIC WORK PMDG Team!!!

Reload saved flight is working perfectly to me, now I’m no worry about long flights  Many thnx for this very important update for us. I see at my old HW little performance plus but to me abs perfect, very satisfied. Did quick flight as test and all ok. If I could report only that initial load of panel state at flight start but this isn’t so important now, I can refresh my saved panel state after click 2-3 times at airport stand  no problem. Again all of you - great work with this first initial patch. Many thnx!!!

eeehm now I’m looking on FMC and panel, I think minor problem looks like because fuel quantity is same (hope good remember) but this message is there.

Fuel disagree. This I have after reload of flight

Just testing, parking brake issue also appears to be fixed.

For testing purpose try COLDDARK state via FMC.

Click MENU > PMDG SETUP > STATE LOAD
Select COLDDARK and click EXEC
