PMDG Boeing 777 status

Well i will wait patiently until the 777 and MAX arrive.

It’s not like there are any alternatives

Yeah I get it for sure. Was really hoping we would see a 777, MD-11, or something cool like the Milviz SR-71 drop for christmas! Then I got an email this morning with the ini300-600f releasing, what sounds like, a couple days(?). Anyways - my point is at the rate cool stuff is coming out for this simulator this past year it’s been easy for me to forget about broken delivery dates etc because I got too much other fun stuff happening.

The wait for the 777, Max, 747 and who know what else will do the same. I find myself so much happier when I don’t hang on all the release news all the time.

well P3D is alive and well with a B38M and 777

For MSFS i mean. P3D is a dead end and is not being developed for by PMDG and many other 3rd party devs.

I mean look at the difference between the 737 on P3D and on MSFS, when you experienced it on MSFS it’s hard to look back.

Prepar3D is not a dead platform…the 737 on there feels more alive and the efb feels more realistic than the current one

That doesn’t mean the simulator platform itself is thriving and growing. Lockheed Martin will gladly take your money for a P3D license but that doesn’t mean developers are lining up to keep updating existing products and bring new ones to market.

And in any case, any kind of “P3D vs. MSFS” debate is off-topic for this thread, and arguably off-topic for this entire forum.

He means dead as in nobody important is developing any addons for it. PMDG are not releasing any updates for their P3D versions and the new things like common VNAV, the new FMC software and ARINC compatibility will never be on the P3D versions.

But I do agree. When I use the sim for “serious” simming, instead of flying from A to B which I don’t do anymore, I still prefer P3D. It just feels more like a training device than a game.

Oh look at that… some actual screenshots… https://forum.pmdg.com/forum/main-forum/general-discussion-news-and-announcements/277531-25dec23-grab-some-eggnog-and-enjoy-a-bit-of-holiday-cheer-on-the-pmdg-flight-test-ramp

Exterior only and not a lot, but still. A good sign that they are starting to show it off.

Here are the photos Robert posted for those who don’t want to follow the link.

Flight deck photos will come soon once some additional texturing work is done. He said the first beta build resulted in about 200 bug reports, roughly half of which have been resolved. He also said the beta team is getting a new build delivered to them this morning - it seems to me the team is pretty optimistic about a relatively near-term release if he’s willing to give that level of insight into the testing and nuts and bolts development work.

Why is there an early build 777x in the background?

It’s part of the Drzewiecki Design KPAE static scenery.

So could we tell which version will come first?

Hard to know…

If PMDG copies the release order they made in prepar3d, we’ll have the 777-200 first, followed by 777-200ER, and later the 777-300 and 777-300ER. But in MSFS they could release the 4 variants at the same time. This could be a clue, but it’s hard to know for sure.

I rather think its a 200 package with a freighter and LR first. Would make most sense since this would be the highest in pricing.

Are there any short to medium haul routes flown in any 777 in the world, cargo or pax? Something like 3-6 hours.

KLAX to KMIA American Airlines. I book that flight in real life when I fly to Miami. 4 - 4.5 hour flight

UAL uses 777s for KDEN ↔ KIAD

Many in Asia…

Singapore, Korean, Thai, air India, Eva air, Japan airlines, China, cafey the list goes well on…

Any major Asian flag carrier flies the 777 on their domestic (Asian short haul) routes…

Air nz to Australia… , then… . I mean… If pdmg 777s are rated to 4x simrate… Any East coast European routes fall within a easy 1- 1 1/2 sim flight… Don’t limit your free time to real world time… Do your classic… 8 hour hop within 1 1/2 to 2 hour sim sitting
