I ran into that last night doing FACT to EGLL, plane was in KG but EFB was in lbs. could have sworn I had em both switched to Kg.
Cheers, thanks for your input.
Maybe its a bug, I need to dive into this a bit more.
Just tried it out today for the first time.
It is interesting seeing features that are better on the 737 than the more technologically advanced 777.
For example,
(i) the missed approach being drawn in the same colour as the rest of the flight plan on the 777 compared to the different colour on the 737. For me the different colour is much clearer.
(ii) being able to see the ETA for, and distance remaining to, the TOD for the whole flight on the 737, whereas only being able to see this info when you get close enough to it on the 777. In my opinion the more information available the better amd so I prefer the 737 system.
Anyone know the difference between Auto and On for the Seat Belts knob?
I deduced via the faint Ding Dong sounds that the No Smoking/No Electronics knob’s Auto position makes the cabin automatically Ding Dong when passing 10,000 feet (both up and down) but unsure of Seat Belts.
i hope someone can elaborate (or correct me), but iirc it had something to do with a holdover feature or something from the 767 fmc. We had a conversation about this in our VA discord about this very thing.
IIRC, the Asobo 787 and 747 also have a delayed ToD indication as well.
Well I can’t say for certain how realistic that is compared to the real plane.
I’m pretty sure I heard from the devs on Working Title’s discord that the delayed ToD is realistic to the real-world 787 and 747.
FYI: this includees specific fixes for the 777.
According to two different FCOM’s I’ve tracked down, it’s not a bug. TOD shows when within 400 miles of TOD. Personally, I understand why the FMC is designed not to bother to show/calculate until closer to destination. The 777 is intended to be a long-haul aircraft. If you’re flying for (typically) 7+ hours, in the face of variable winds and weather, with the possible inclusion of fully-optional step-climbs along the way, calculating any kind of accurate TOD to display at some arbitrary point in the flight is just throwing darts at a board. Further, that distance/time will change based on cruise speed, winds, potential step climbs and so on, and so the FMC will have to spend cycles periodically recalculating that point, along with everything else the aircraft is doing, for relatively little benefit. The longer the flight progresses and the closer to the destination, the more accurate TOD calculations will get. 400 miles is roughly within an hour’s flight time, more or less, and plenty of time for the crew to begin their pre-descent checks.
Right. When i mean “holdover” i mean in regards to the real aircraft not showing TOD until you’re closer was a feature seen from the 767 FMC and it carried over to the 777 FMC, based on a conversation i was party to among a couple real world pilots.
I didn’t want to imply it was a bug, but more the extent of programming done by WT. I can’t imagine they’d miss a detail like that.
I have a flight on my schedule for APL thats Dubai to Muscat, Oman and indicates 188 mile journey with the 77W. Should be UAE866
BA flies a 772 between several Caribbean islands that I think might be even shorter
Trying to config thrustmaster capt pack with throttles on the 777, having no luck. any ideas ?
You could try one of these. I gave it a try but it is quite messy getting reverse thrust to work properly.
New Update : 2.0.39 available now in Ops Center
Details-
Not bought this one yet but I have seen a few posts mentioning that the engine sounds didn’t seem quite right.
Are they better now with this update or do most people think there never was a problem in the first place?
It honestly varies with personal opinion. Of course, those that feel like the sounds aren’t right would also be the ones that are most likely to post something about the sounds. Those that are fine with them are not as likely to write about them, so take what you see in the posts with a grain of salt ![]()
All that being said, I don’t mind them personally, but I have never flown on or been around a 777 so I can’t say much one way or another. In my not-very-meaningful opinion, they’re fine. There’s at least nothing about them that I find myself getting distracted by thinking "that sounds weird…'. I assume that if they released it with the sounds it has after having real-world 777 pilots testing it, it can’t be that bad.
Put another way… There are so many things that the aircraft excels at, that there is nothing about the sounds that makes me regret purchasing it.
